Question about 1990 Suburban & emissions

Colorado is now following the same California catalytic converter standards (only CARB certified cats) so be aware of that because you can no longer purchase federal converters in state. The price difference is significant: $300 for a good Magnaflow regular federal emissions cat and $1200 for a...

New - Reproduction OEM Floor mats

Any pics? I'd like to see how off the color is and if I could live with it. I also have the tan interior, but if the color is just wrong then I might get the black.

Q-Logic Speaker Pods (Free) - Palo Alto, CA

Forgot about this post... Sorry to those who messaged me, I will get back to you in case you don't see this update. I checked the post office and it doesn't fit in the standard flat rate boxes, so ideally looking for local pick up. I can try to find a larger box if someone really really wants...

After a few years of use, I’ve decided to part ways with these guys. I just don’t like the look, and I’m redoing my stereo system anyway and going a different direction. See link below for more info. ***Especially only for 78-87 (91) Q-Logic Enclosures Looking back, I can’t believe...

Safe load for suburban stock rack

I have not, I've been getting around with a roof-top box (thule-type deal) mounted to the factory rails. I'm still on the lookout, but haven't really needed it, or just made do without.

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

Polarity does not matter. Clocking does not matter either as long as the cable routing doesn't interfere with anything.

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

Our trucks with the original R12 system used a different style port to interface with the manifold gauges. When retrofitted, adapters are used so that the R134-specific connectors on these gauges can be used. So your new accumulator (like your old one) should have the old-style R12 fitting on...

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

I guess you could, but I wouldn't want to risk it. Plus, the orifice tube is cheap, so you might as well do that while you have the system open. The only heads up for the orifice tube is that sometimes they can get stuck in the evaporator inlet tube, but it's easy to check if you can remove it...

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

I went through two actually, the first one was a dud, and did not work straight out of the box. That was a Four Seasons R4 unit. It fit properly, the belt and terminal clocking (12 oclock) lined up perfectly, but was not pumping. I ended up wasting refrigerant since I had to evacuate again and...

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

I have since replaced the compressor, and now it lines up perfectly. Amazing how having the correct part works... So not sure I can help with a mismatched part or parts. Although mine ran for quite a while like that before I replaced everything, so it can be done.

    Outdoor Storage, Cover and Suggestions?

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that irish spring trick! I've been searching for a rodent deterrent... Yes, I'll be leaving the country for a while, but luckily I have done some more searching and found a barn where I can store it, so at least it will be indoors. But I have another vehicle...

    Outdoor Storage, Cover and Suggestions?

Life changes and I need to store my burb for at least a year. It's going to be parked outdoors, which it has been for it's whole life as you can tell. But I was considering purchasing a car cover to protect what little paint is left and prevent interior sun fade. Has anybody used a car cover...

    AC Delco Factory Radio (AM/FM)

Tested am/fm, presets, tone, balance, and all seem to work fine. Front knobs are missing, but other than that it is complete: it does have the pigtails (all 3), support brace and bolt for dash, mounting nuts, and the tone/balance knobs behind the volume/tune knobs that are missing. $40 + shipping

    Electric Air Control Valve/Solenoid

I lucked out and found one in a yard for $10. Now I've got everything back to working condition. But... When I went to retake the emissions test, I failed again, and this time with even higher HC numbers than before. What could be causing this?

    Electric Air Control Valve/Solenoid

That's close, but not quite the right one. But, diverter valve was the keyword I was missing and now I'm getting more hits closer to the right part. Looks like they are expensive though, so probably going to see if I can find one on a junkyard...

    Electric Air Control Valve/Solenoid

Anybody ever replace one of these? Looks like the check valve failed and the air pump was not connected at some point and the hot exhaust gases backed up and melted the electric air control (EAC) valve/solenoid assembly - also known as the diverter valve. I tried searching, but couldn't find...
