    Hi, The new seal I used do not allows perfect fixing of the governor gover in the case (too thick seal ?), there is a clearance of 0.05" is it a pb for the governor to work properly if it does not touch the cover ? BTW, should the governor touch the interior of the cover ? or its rotating...

    I got it !!!! It was the pump assembly that was not well centered, I disassembed it and mounted centered directly on the trans case; then put it back and all is allright now, front end play 0,032"..... I finish the remaining body valve assemby this afternoon

    "So what that is saying, is press the shaft in to where its .010 - .012 below the highest point on the drum. I've never even measured that. I just put it in and make sure its sticking above and maybe a hair below, which is likely about .010 I guess. I've never had a problem with end play doing...

    See attached file, when I order the sprag, my dealer sent me the stock sprag, see the clearance in the case saver, I had to order a new one from TH700

    So did you noticed on the case saver you have removed that the sprag were the stock one or the wider from TH 700 ? in the case of using stock one, there is a clearance and the sprag can move from rear to front in the assembly by something like 0.1', thus might be explaining broken tabs ...

    Good US stuff Yes it's a '77 Pontiac Formula 400. I am also a musicien and own a Gibson Les Paul black beauty, see photos. These two are my favorites , thank's to americain crafted stuff. I know here it's not a firebird forum but found the transmission discussion great!
