    350 Engine Improvements

Yeah... that's true. I'm an idiot. No EGR, etc. etc. I just started to refer to anything 70s as "smog" at a certain point. Thanks for the tip.

    350 Engine Improvements

Hey all - long time no post, and this should actually be a rather fun one. I swapped my tired 250 out for a 350 last summer (2014) which I found for an unbeatable price on Craigslist - $125 with an engine stand. While yes it's from a '72 El Camino (rated at 165HP I believe) and yes, it is...

    Caster issues after lift?

yeah... I'm just retarded. I figured it out that night - not only was my draglink a bit off, but somehow the bolts that SHOULD have been super tight on the u-bolts on the driver's side worked their way loose (that could have been fun) causing play between the axle and leaf spring.

    Caster issues after lift?

Ya know... because I'm all retarded and what not, I was thinking that it was going to be more with the drag link. I adjusted it, but don't think I did so enough. That's the only thing that "should" have changed the geometry of the steering. I went with the 4" rough country lift that has the...

    Caster issues after lift?

So I FINALLY got the 4" on my suspension that I've been wanting (and my truck is more badass because of it) and replaced a few worn parts discovered - especially a particularly dead tie rod end. Problem is... there is a TON of play in my wheel that didn't exist before. I have to turn the...

    Gas Tanks - swaps/mods

Thanks for the info, y'all. The price is usually right, so I'll just snag another 16 and rig it up when I can.

    Gas Tanks - swaps/mods

I didn't see a more appropriate area of the forum to ask this question, so... I'm gonna just leave this here. I read 'somewhere' that a GM 20gal tank will not fit a shortbed. Just wondering if I could confirm this bit of information with the experts here. Furthermore, if this is the case...

Eddie 1406 - Fun with adjustments

Likewise... I'm jetted 12% all around at 6500ft. She seems to have run fine today, but the needle isn't the most accurate. The pump will tell me this weekend. ...still tripped out by the fact that i'm running best at idle with the screws all the way in. I may still yank it this weekend if...

Eddie 1406 - Fun with adjustments

I'm going to rip this bastard apart when I get home. After the truck sat for a good ten weeks so I could give the GTO some road time before she gets garaged for the winter, I hauled 'er back out for an axle swap and some other adjustments in anticipation of the cold months ahead. My tune was...

Axle Swap - Fuel Econ Woes

...all worth it for the sake of "I drive an old steel carbed truck. fuck you, sir."

Axle Swap - Fuel Econ Woes

After I played with the Qjet for awhile, I flipped it on Craigslist, but I'll probably snag another later down the road for S&G. I re-jetted a 1406 and have been using that since. It's probably a dead plug in one of my no-fire spots when I had a trash distributor. Never changed the plugs...

Axle Swap - Fuel Econ Woes

Ogre - long time, man. I'm sitting on the 465. Most of my driving is 13 miles each way daily - under 45MPH, half of which is in a 35MPH zone. 6.5MPG just doesn't seem right...

Axle Swap - Fuel Econ Woes

Am I missing something? I went from a 3.55 ratio to 4.10 to run 33" or 35" in the future. I'm running the same 31" tires and my econ seems to be cut almost in half - from 12-13MPG down to 6-6.5MPG. I was under the impression that the change in fuel econ would for this setup would be quite...

Ready to gear - next steps

Ha! Maybe not. I found a guy who's upgrading to 1-tons and has the same axle set as me, but rebuilt recently - 4.11s with a locker in the ass end for $500. Deal... deal... and deal.

Ready to gear - next steps

Well... looks like I have a 3-series carrier. This is going to be a huge production, I take it.

Ready to gear - next steps

Good afternoon, all. Long time since I posted last... Anyhow, I went down to the local upull yesterday to see what was sitting around and came home rather disappointed and empty-handed. I was for awhile entertaining bumping up to 1 tons, but figure that I'm never going to have this truck in...

    power steering/armstrong steering

I guess this is just for confirmation... Power steering was totally fine prior to my 250-350 swap. Of course the pump I had on hand was of questionable origin. Now... low rpms = no power steering. Presumably it's time for a new pump and the steering box shouldn't be suspect since all was...

    Rochester/Edelbrock Quadrajet Information

Yeppo. Edelbrock used to offer a whole line of Quadrajets: http://www.carburetion.com/Rochester.asp ...but to quell confusion, maybe it should just be entitled "Quadrajet Information"?

    Rochester/Edelbrock Quadrajet Information

Reference Lars' article "how to tune a Quadrajet". You'll find a wealth of information on what you have from that doc.

    Rochester/Edelbrock Quadrajet Information

I do believe that I have that information in my store. From what I understand, there was a variant that GM made for autos and one for standards - but I'll keep you posted as I sift through these documents and organize them.

    Rochester/Edelbrock Quadrajet Information

...so I saw that the 1406 had its own sticky, so I figure to myself "Why the hell not". The Quadrajet has seen quite a few decades of production starting in the mid 60s and became GM's standard-issue fuel delivery system until the era of TBI engines when GM ceased production and Edelbrock was...

Rebuilt 350 - Abysmal Fuel Econ

Confirming between 10-11MPG if I'm driving with a conservative foot on the pedal. Now I get to experiment with the q-jet I built and jetted to see what kind of econ I'll score from that. Expecting a possible 2-3MPG gain. In fact, I may have to do a qjet writeup if I get a minute for the carb...

Rebuilt 350 - Abysmal Fuel Econ

Aaaaw HELL yeah! you done tell me do things it not run and... (I hope to high hell my econ is better than 5mpg now. lol - no excuse for it to NOT be with 31s on 355s)
