APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Glad it was helpful to you! This is one of those areas that often gets overlooked... Even by the original engineers! Why they thought a major sheetmetal seam belonged at the bottom of what is essentially a water pipe is BEYOND me. Post up about your electrical issue over in the electrical...

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Yes I did. After the seam sealer I painted on about 3 coats of flex seal (clear, though it does not matter) and boy did that stuff go on nice. It smells funny, but it's good stuff. I made sure to paint it right up the sides of the cowl, basically making a channel of flex seal. Water will likely...

water leak into cab through floor vent over brake pedal

Something else to pay attention to; https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/apb-check-your-cowl-seam-seals.29801/ The seam at the bottom of the cowl likes to break up and rust, allowing water down between the two layers of steel that form the firewall. The result is water can come in through any...

water leak into cab through floor vent over brake pedal

So the water is coming in through the HVAC? I'm having a hard time picturing what you are describing.

    Thougths ?

Yikes. No title. Needs lots of body work. Missing 90% of the interior. No motor. Trans is trash. Tires are trash. Is there actually anything good about the truck???

Anyone dealt with LMC Trucks for parts?

This is 100% a scam. No retailer would ever request this information. Was the request via email? Look up the LMC phone number on their site and call that. Do not trust any contact info in the email as it is likely a fake phishing email. Report all information to LMC. DO NOT SEND THE INFO...

    454 kickback/dieseling after shutdown?

I had this problem for a while. Just figured it out a couple days ago. Carb was loose. So I had a vacuum leak. Tightened down the carb (summit brand) and no more diesel.

    Rusty floor pans best options

Please keep in mind that it may not be just a heater core causing these rust issues. I also discovered that the firewall leaks where the cowl pinches down and allows water between the layers and down onto the floor. Also watch for the windshield seal. That one likes to leak as it dries out...

    Painlesswiring, American Autowire, or ??????

I'll add in that I used Painless when I did a relay kit for the windows on my 80 Camaro. Very high quality kit and the instructions were simply amazing. I'm used to getting generalized low-quality instruction with this stuff, but Painless actually included full-color images for all steps, and...

Part Numbers for a complete Steering Shaft Rebuild

Pull out that bolt, unbolt the rag joint and the column joint, collapse the shaft where the extra bolt is and take it out. Easy peasy! I can understand why they replaced the plastic with the bolt, regardless of how dangerous it is. The plastic can wear out and cause issues and it can make it...

    What are these?

Yeah pretty sure that's what that is. I've got a couple of those rolling around in the hardware box. The nut and washer on the ends in the pic almost threw me off.

    Timing issue

No IAC on a carb, that's EFI stuff. Are you sure you are getting constant 12v to the coil? Does it matter if the motor is hot or cold? How hacked up is the wiring? All sensors and stuff still in place? Emissions stuff?

Part Numbers for a complete Steering Shaft Rebuild

Woah dude, thread back from the dead! This might actually be one of my first! As to the parts... I don't recall having to drill or ream anything out. As far as I remember it all went together pretty easy. I did it in my living room (hence the fancy ass table that doesnt exist any more in the...

Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

Its a Summit Max Performance 650. Basically a summit knock-off Holley 4160. The rear bowl is grey now because the original was no good (had to use a Holley replacement), but other than that its been a great carb so far.

Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

I did just that ten years ago. Then I sealed the deal by putting four kids in her lol. But that may be TMI. Truth be told she's more inclined than I am. She's just used to BIG engines up in the 1820 cu in range. B17s were her specialty for years ;)

Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

And she's running! This is my third attempt at getting her fired up. Turns out the secondary bowl of the carb was manufactured incorrectly, basically preventing the float from functioning correctly. Can you say fuel geyser??? Anyway, I replaced the bowl with a genuine Holley part (unfortunately...

Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

A few updated shots. It's slowly coming together. I've had a LOT of wiring to do. I'm about 90% done. Just the in-cab switches and the power/ground for the electric power steering pump.

So I guess this is my Trans Am build thread now...

    - If the valley pan has the PCV port at the rear, the block is from 1966 or older, and if the port is at the front, it is 1967 and newer. - Blocks cast from 1955–66 have two freeze plugs while the 1967–78 blocks have three freeze plugs. - On 1968–69 428 blocks you will find “428” stamped between...

    Ordering new Seats

I've actually seen pictures of these seats in single cab trucks before. That's how I found out about them in fact. So they might just work! I will say the build quality is not exactly OEM. The center seat is a bit weak, but a little elbow grease and some heavy duty hinges would easily fix that...

    Insulation on a Budget

Noico is good stuff. I've used it extensively. Made in the Russian Federation lol. Keep in mind, that type of butyl-based mass-backed material is only necessary in small amounts to be effective. It's purpose is to add mass to panels in order to change their resonant frequency. So 100% coverage...

    Dually Wheel Fitment Help

Why not just pull a little of the drop back out of it? Those wheels would probably fit fine at stock height. Would losing an inch of drop be all that bad for the look you want? Seems simpler than swapping axles etc etc.
