    Trailer Wiring Adapter

I run 7-pin RV-style connections on all my vehicles and I have adaptors to go to the four-pin for when I help move someone else's trailer (two friends' boat trailers are 4-pin and I often haul them to the lake as payment for staying at their cabins for the weekend). I ran a junction box at the...

Lowering coils and ball joint replacement

My vote is to replace the ball joints while you have it apart. Mine are all still solid, and original, but the rubber boots are starting or have been leaking grease for a while. I have it on my list to purchase the Moog Problem Solvers when I order the lowering kit. I like to be prepared when...

Trash my dash? And interior panel take offs?

I have a small bin or two on my shelves in the shop to collect used but okay parts for each of my projects. I also have a 5 x 7 garden shed near my shop that the bigger stuff goes into. I might need it or someone else might. The times that my collection of "stuff" has saved us a trip to a...

    Unable to bleed rear brakes

Older thread but thank you all. This one helped diagnose our brake bleed issues. On to the next problem.

Remove accessories from this old truck?

Those pictures and those of my Datsun King cab with a home-built interior roll cage are sadly lost. Trust me I've looked cause they were both awesome vessels of teenage/young adult debauchery

    '74 C10 Step Side - New Guy

Welcome to the group - there are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge. I'm soaking it all in too as I'm on week 3-ish of my mid-life crisis. I'm switching from two wheels to four as my body is falling apart and riding has become painful if not also dangerous (bad knees, wrists and...

Remove accessories from this old truck?

A lot of that style of running board had frame-mounted brackets, or at least the trucks (and one four-door Pontiac Pariesine) I have owned did.

Remove accessories from this old truck?

If mine came with both running boards ( and the one board was held on by more than 3 1/4" bolts) I would have kept them on. I'm looking for the old-school bug shields and a few other accessories. I'm keeping the tripod camper mirrors (or installing the mini-west coasts mirrors I still have...

Swap the rear drive pulley - going from 10 or 11 " to 2-3" means we get up to around 30-40 kmph. Our local peace officers came out for a race and sat at the end of the straightway - 41 kmph was the highest speed that race.

Lawn/ Garden tractors/ Riding Mowers, Cool Mods and tinkering

We started a racing league for our local sports day a few years back and are slowly growing interest in it. My team has four members and three mowers. Two father and son groups (including me and my son). We are Bremsspur Racing which translates to Skid Mark Racing - the poop emojis are the...

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

We have a large assortment at my work's shop that we can pick through as needed. It's the same stack of parts bins my new door hinge pins and bushing came from. But I might have to grab a kit to keep some in my home stock. Partsman habits die hard.

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

I have a big stack of Equipco parts bins in my shop - three of the drawers have my machine screw collection (imperial, metric, etc). This screw has most likely held for a decade so it should be fine - I'll just keep a few vacuum caps/plugs in the glove box so that Murpgey's Law doesn't strike...

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

I've printed them off and have them all in binders already. I like paper manuals over electronic ones - but the electronic ones have been my lunch break reading materials. I'm an old journeyman partsman so service manuals, parts diagrams and such are my wheelhouse.

Thank you for the information/testing for the valves. The one port with the screw is getting a proper vacuum cap as soon as I get back to the shop at work next week - I like to use proper stuff when I can.

The second batch. I think everything is hooked up correctly. I realize the speedo cables are not hooked up and the cruise control is not in the right position - I have the new inner fenders sitting on the shop floor for Saturday mornings job list.

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

I didn't know what the sensors were but now I do - I included the picture to help the next person that comes looking for some extra knowledge. I took a bunch of pictures when I had the air cleaner housing off - I hope they help show what I have.

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

All the information and research and this is what I came up with. I miss having my old parts catalogues - I'm old enough that when I started as a partsman we had racks of books at each of our desks. Sometimes easier than on the computers. All are not needed and will be removed - the rest of...

What have you done to your square lately??

We pulled the box off so I can repair the rear wiring for fuel and lights and so I can repair some cross braces on the box. Good to have friends that work for beer or apple juice.

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

Thank you to all who gave information and advice/guidance. I found it interesting that there are great vacuum diagrams up to 1980 and then again in from 1984 and on but the 1981-83 looks like a scan of a picture of someone's decal from under a hood and the picture was taken from space... I...

What have you done to your square lately??

We (my son and I) continued the long process of identifying issues on our "new" truck. We found and repaired a bunch of bad wiring, identified the transmission, and figured out what a bunch of vacuum items that are not hooked up are (all emissions stuff so they will be going away). I...

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

I'm in Alberta so we have zero air care - no need for emission control to keep it on the road. The plan for tomorrow is to identify what the vacuum devices are and make plans to remove anything else it doesn't need. I'd rather plug or cap the unused ports so I have fewer chances for aged...

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

I'll get more pictures. All of the items you mentioned are currently hooked up to the best of my knowledge (vac advance, brake boost, etc) - I've only had the last few evenings to work on it. Trucks runs and drives - I drove it home 3.5 hours (all back roads...) but I'm looking to see what the...
