    vent window tip

For the past 3 day's off and on I have been trying to install new weatherstripping on my 1976 suburban vent window without much luck. The curved portion would not snap in. I let it sit in the sun sprayed it down with windex and still no luck so I took a couple spring clamps and when I clamped...

    Just an FYI

I just want to give a quick review on a new at least to me product. I saw a commercial last month for a rusted nut and bolt catalyst (I think that's the right word ). It's called Superzilla the green wonder product. When I saw "green product" I had my doubts but for the sale price and all the...

Does this sound like it had work done

I'm less than a 1000 feet above sea level. I also forgot to mention there is no knocking, no burning oil, and the only thing that leaks onto the driveway is power steering fluid which I'm going to fix when the rain ever stops.

Does this sound like it had work done

Thank You for responding. I don't see any shiny parts but other than the dipstick there are 2 broken exhaust manifold bolts, and there were a couple of ground wires that were not connected. My oil pressure while I'm driving is a steady 60 psi, but that is according to my stock dash gauge. I love...

Does this sound like it had work done

Hi Guy's. I have been reading through all the different post's and was especially interested in the thread about testing with a vacuum gauge so I gave it a shot. I connected the vacuum gauge to the manifold fitting that the line for the trans goes to and at idle it was a very steady 18. I didn't...

    looking for 17 inch wheels

Well the good news is that I found some wheels. The bad news is that I was on my way to get them and I had a blowout on the expressway. The left rear blew and bent my exhaust pipe, and damaged my perfect quarter panel. I had to call my neighbor since I forgot my jack he showed up got the spare...

    looking for 17 inch wheels

I've got to look a lot harder since the wheels I have seen so far are out of my price range. I'm living off SSI disability and with another surgery coming up I have to consider my co pay. I'm sure something will come up . Thank You so much guys for all your help.

    looking for 17 inch wheels

Hey all. I have an opportunity to get 5 nearly new tires for free but the problem is they are 17's and I have the stock 16.5 wheels on my 1976 k20 suburban. I can't find the wheels partly because I'm not sure what year GM wheels will fit on my 76. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

I think the 3/16 is how far from the edge of the float bowl you take your measurement not the actual float measurement. The float measurement should be closer to but definately less than a 1/2 inch.

fixed warped carburetor causing high idle

I was starting to think about getting a new carburetor since I couldn't figure out the high idle issue I was having. After rebuilding my carb I couldn't get it to idle properly and after double and triple checking everything I checked and found the air horn and the middle section were warped and...

    quadrajet very high idle

I was guessing and kinda hoping that it is a vacuum leak until I remembered just for kicks putting a straight edge across the throttle body (middle section ?) and it was definately not flat but I heard that this is common and after watching a lot of videos on youtube of guys rebuilding...

    quadrajet very high idle

I am only turning the choke idle screw and the throttle screw. The other 2 screws are still sealed with the hardened plug.

Please help me make a decision

even the kid had a hard time reaching the modulator. It sits in an awkward place you need to drop the tranny to really access it. It is not possible to replace it while it is in the truck. It is a 1/2 inch bolt so maybe were talking about something else.

    vaccum leaks

I am not a mechanic so I'm just throwing this out there but with a better carb would you need to change out the fuel pump to feed it ?

Please help me make a decision

That's a problem. The hold down bolt is a little bit loose maybe a full turn would be all it needs but I can't get at it. Being disabled I have a hard time getting under the truck in this cold on the driveway so I did get the neighbor kid to replace the modulator hose for me , I checked it and...

Please help me make a decision

Looking at the vin and the numbers on the burb it came from the factory with a th350 trans and the 400 sb. Like yours all the U joints seem tight. I am going to take it to a trans shop that was recommended next week. Sorry about posting the quote but I don't know where the reply button is. Thank You

Please help me make a decision

I don't know if it is related but when I put it in reverse it clunks so hard from somewhere in the driveline that it sounds like something is going to break apart. I can't tell from the drivers seat but a guy at a 4 x 4 shop said it sounded like it's coming from the rearend.

Please help me make a decision

The motor seems to run great, no knock, idles great etc. I can't check timing yet, I gave away what tools I had for carbureted engines a long time ago when I didn't think I would be in the situation I'm in. The engine is a sbc 400 with a th350 trans, np203 transfer case and a 14 bolt rearend. It...
