aftermarket radiator and electric fan options

Update............ I installed the new Mishimoto Radiator and she's running cool. The temps have been highs around 80 so I haven't pushed her but I let her idle for 15 minutes and its running cooler. My guess is 185 but I'll pull the infared out when it hits 90 again. The radiator is $319...

    th350 issue

thanks guys. This truck is an adventure lol... I'm going to buy a tube and dipstick off of amazon and install it in a couple of days... I have a gasket kit that has 7+ gaskets in it so I should have the gasket I need in case the new tube doesn't come with one. The pan is back on so I can't...

    th350 issue

I have a bit of a frankentruck... originally an 87 v10 with a 305. Now has a carbed 305 out of an 84, th350 and a np205. I think the axles are original... I've been having a couple issues lately.... what seems to be happening is that if I fill up the fluid to where it should be hot it seems...

    Brake light issue....finally........SOLVED!!!

I had a similar issue where the brake lights went inop and I had a tech take a look at it when he was replacing the rear brakes/drums etc. He said it was the harness he was right. It was a pita but there is a good right up by 89suburban if i remember correctly. Makes it fairly straightforward...

aftermarket radiator and electric fan options

With the guage reading 180-190 in temperate weather the infared thermometer was reading right at 180 by the tstat. I didn't wait till 90 degree weather to double check the accuracy in hot weather but it is a safe assumption on a 30 year old stock radiator. I'll be moving to NC where the...

aftermarket radiator and electric fan options

I just ordered the moshimoto from Jegs for $268.75. It won't be here for 2 weeks but the truck drives fine, just a little warm when the temp is in the 90's. I'll test out the new radiator in hot weather and report back how she does. Looks like I might not be in NC till September so I'll keep...

aftermarket radiator and electric fan options

I just ordered an infared thermometer off amazon for $10. I think its a good idea of I'm fixing a non problem lol and getting ahead of myself. The stock radiator is in good shape and the temp guage doesn't move much once at temp. I'll double check the tstat I used but if I remember correctly...

aftermarket radiator and electric fan options

I've been driving my K10 a lot lately and fixing little and big problems as they arise. My truck doesn't overheat per say but the factory guage reads 200 all the time. I think thats what it always did and only goes up to 210 degrees in extreme heat. My buddy looked it a couple years ago with...

Engine advice; rebuild, replace or put on a new pan???

thanks for the advice guys. The truck still had a fair amount of oil in it when I drained the pan. The pan was really rusty but since she leaks it was always covered in oil lol. I got lucky and never lost oil pressure or oil volume and it was a pin hole leak at the back of the pan which...

    87 v10 fuel sending unit

Guys, thanks for the tips. I'm moving south in a couple weeks so I'm going to take the advice of its not broke; don't fix it..... I want to upgrade the fuel hose but don't want to spend $100 bucks if I have to sell in a couple months :( Not likely as my truck is one of a kind with the Rugby...

    87 v10 fuel sending unit

Quick question hopefully; I have an 87 V10 but the engine is from an 84 and she is carbed. The fuel sending unit is pretty rusty and I'm thinking of replacing it while I replace the fuel line. Should I use a fuel sending unit from an 86 or 87? It was originally dual 16 gallon tanks but...

Starting problems..... where do I start

I think she's fixed!!! It was 30 degrees this afternoon and I was able to get her started. I cranked her for 10 seconds and then hooked up the electric choke and turned it to its furthest position counter clockwise. took a couple cranks and I kept it running for a solid 30 minutes as I ran...

Starting problems..... where do I start

Thank you for the advice and brain storming. Oil is 5w30. the electric choke seems to be working as I checked for power and observed the butterflies on top of the carb move as it warmed up. I'm thinking the plugs might be gunked up... I have to replace the header gasket anyways (only...

I haven't been on in a while... life... and haven't been driving my K10 much Technically she is an 87 but the engine is from a 84 and is carbed, 305. Four years ago I installed a Quadrajet from Shaun Murphy Induction on a Recc from here. It has been perfect until last week. It would start...

In case anybody needs to find the steering column bearings in the future. Crown automotive makes a repair kit. On Summit I could only find 1 for Jeeps but I googled it with the crown name. Popped right up on Amazon... I hate Amazon but it was sold thru some gm parts place... a little cheaper...

    wiper switch wiring

I found it. PITA.... I went to a local parts distributor and the guy gave it more than the freshman try..... The parts are available but not easy to look up. He did me a solid and could have sold the wiring to me for $140 but he wasn't sure it was the right one.... Gave me the info...

    wiper switch wiring

I'm going to replace my turn signal switch because of no brake lights and I just noticed my wipers are acting up. I pulled the column apart and found the wiring that runs down the steering column for the wiper switch is frayed with exposed copper. Makes sense that the wipers wouldn't turn...

    Bearing fell apart

I've been using 89 suburbans video for a couple years now and it is very helpful. I found the parts I needed from LMC, my local parts guy couldn't locate it.... Its a rack a sector kit that includes the 2 bearings, $55 bucks or so. The job isn't too bad with the tutorial but many little...
