    I swapped my 250 out for a 350 approximately 3 months ago. My truck is a 84 K10 with an SM465. Anecdotal only but when I dropped the small block in I did not have to change a single thing transmission mount wise. All I did was loosen the frame side engine perches and it fit right in.

    It sounds like what my truck was doing, except my issue was the PCV going to the charcoal can was sucking loose charcoal into the fuel bowl (no clue how).     You’ll need the long tie rod, a short one and the adjuster sleeve. They all should say 1” on the description screen. I’ve been told the 7/8 and 1” interchange no problem. I think Moog is your best bet for quality.

    Cowl cleaning surprise!

    I lathered mine in no shrink flexible silicon and then flex seal over that. Correct way to do it? Probably not. Will it leak? Probably not.

    If not the heater core check the seal/weld at the cowl and firewall. That’s where mine is leaking.

    charcoal ingestion

    The guy I bought my truck from had the fuel bowl vent hose attached directly at the charcoal can. Somehow the pellets made it up that hose and into the fuel bowl

    Check the rag joint first. Rebuild won’t tighten it up because none of the hard parts are replaced, only the seals and o-rings

    Took it all the way down. I would imagine the bearings are in correct, it turned smooth on the bench and was moving just fine until I bled it with the pitman off. All my ball bearings were the same color too.

    Preload was set the same as when it came apart. I don't have a torque wrench but I didn't change the sector shaft setting from when I took it apart. I took the pitman arm off a minute ago and turned lock to lock trying to force any air out. Hooked it back up and refilled the fluid, no I can't...

    I took the plunge and rebuilt the steering box instead of buying one. Overall it wasn't terrible, the hardest part was getting the teflon seal to seat in the housing. Once reassembled I turned it through full range of motion and everything was smooth and quiet. Installed it back on the truck...

    New pump, rubber lines, sender and filter are in, cleaned the tank as well. Running just fine now. I guess all that trash from the tank was clogging it all up.

    Definitely too much rubber, this is the second time I’ve cleaned that much out. Old filter had no seal, just a VERY thin gasket. Filter itself had no significant debris inside.

    The verajet had the 2 inch filter in it so I got the same replacement. This one actually has a rubber seal though. I know they have two different for the quad jet but was it the same for verajet?

    Ruled out any vacuum leaks. Top of carb was fairly easy to take off when I did it. Most of the rubber was sitting in the carb bowl and was spotless when I put it back in. Checked it again a few minutes ago and more black bits. I'll pull it off and clean it again tonight. Goal for this weekend...

    Got new fuel filter in yesterday, will put it in tomorrow. I am still a new squarebody owner and did not realize that the filter is supposed to have a rubber check valve on it. The one in there at the moment has nothing at all. I am suspecting that is where the rubber bits in the carb bowl...

    Smoothen out. Purchased a new filter, the old one doesn’t have the check valve. I haven’t replaced it yet because of work. I’ve got a new sender unit coming since I can’t get a replacement in tank strainer (fuel gauge also didn’t work).
