What have you done to your square lately??

Repainted a few of the trim pieces in the cab. Definitely lighter than OE color. Compared to the back corner pieces. But I like it. Need to decide before I do the door panels. Those are kinda cooked. On another note, I’m pretty certain this truck was ordered by the PO and not a stock lot...

Been runnin on empty for 40 miles!

Possible. Sender is new though and it went perfectly to empty and stopped there on the gauge. Not really an issue. Just perplexing. If it runs for 75 miles on empty that tank just has a nice reserve. It does look like it was installed by a chimpanzee though…

Welcome! Sounds like you have more mechanical aptitude at 17 than most have at any age! More than me anyways! Kudos to you. And nice truck!

    Power window motor?

Ok I was off in my thinking. Although I thought I checked the case to ground. Either way, have + power on opposite pins based on switch direction and when pigtail is plugged into window motor can hear a click when switch is pressed. Still a bad motor I believe. Thanks again for the help!

    Power window motor?

Yes I did thanks. Checked assembly was cont to ground. And only checked for + on the 2 wires, - grounded to the body. Thanks for the heads up though!

    Power window motor?

@Doppleganger Have not. Bone stock. Passenger window is fast. Both windows on the 86 are fast. Haven’t needed “more power” yet.

    New tire question

The tire takes up the space, so big or small rim, doesn’t matter. Use a tire size guide online to compare different widths and aspect ratios to your current size.

    Power window motor?

Quick check before ordering a new drivers side window motor. Have power to the switch. Power to the window motor plug as expected on/off with the window switch. No other possibilities, correct? Just a smoked window motor?

Been runnin on empty for 40 miles!

It’s a single wire, 3 port aftermarket solenoid. No return lines. And based off of switching back n forth several times it’s only pulling from the tank selected. What it looks like? Ugly square old welded steel tank covered in 1970s era rustproofing that appears to have the same sender as an OE...

Been runnin on empty for 40 miles!

Hahaha oops Eagles, Jackson Brown, who’s counting….my bad. This one is bolted to the frame, some u bolt looking brackets. Honestly was installed by a hack. Filler neck sticks out of a poorly cut hole in the bed at a weird angle. And bed side dented up looks like upon install. Back to why not...

Been runnin on empty for 40 miles!

Looks like it was just under 1/8 at 69996.9 Hahaha If that was accurate it would have 2-3 gallons left. The 86 runs out of gas aboot 10-15 miles after the gauge quits bouncing. This thing don’t get 20 mpg!

Been runnin on empty for 40 miles!

Like the Eagles song except no tape deck in the truck. The old 77 has an aftermarket aux tank. PO said it is only 10 gallons. Asked him why he thought that. Said cause when it’s on E it only takes 10 gallons…reasonable logic. But the tank looks roughly the same size as the OE tank. =20 gal...

DA New Pantina, at least temporarily

If I didn’t know better I’d think it may have been one of my past buddy’s trucks. He worked auto body at the time and also beat the hell out of this new truck he bought. So he was always painting something. Either fixin whiskey dents or giving it a new color scheme. Bet there were parts of that...

    What is this? (LSPV Valve)

I don’t think the spid label would tell you specifically. I have a K20 with the LPSV from factory and it doesn’t have a specific option for it. It was as Keith put it, to dial back the big rear drums for unloaded driving (or testing certification). On a C30 I would absolutely remove it...

    Adhesive Rear Cab Molding?

You might be able to stick the plastic cab trim clips on with thin 3m double sided tape, but I agree, I don’t see the corner pieces holding well if at all without bolting them up like OE.

Good grief! And 5 DIFFERENT colors to boot! What’s the original color? (Out of curiosity).

    77 C-20

Lol, that’s almost entirely the point of putting big big block in an old truck. It ain’t practical for towing, it ain’t practical for drag racing and you could haul anything the bed will carry with a little 6 banger…. Spinning wheels are much easier on the drivetrain that putting all the power...

Oops. Probably shouldn't have done that.

@Somewittyusername, what you have is not OE GM, but had an aftermarket aux fuel tank at some point. That may not match up with OE wiring schematic for dual tanks. Haven’t dug into mine yet, because it all works, so idk. But my 77 is oe single tank with aftermarket aux tank. Has a 1 wire...

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks good! Did you actually use liquid nails or something with better strength properties. Like panel bonding adhesive or similar? If not, you may want to put in more rivets. Thinking over time, body flexing etc. Just spitballing here.

    Verify defect fuel sending unit

No expert but there’s a ton of info on here if you search. 3:00 position = open circuit to gauge iirc. 9:00 position = grounded out. One suggestion though, I believe it’s easier to remove (or at least unbolt and slide back) the bed. Unless you have nothing or no one to help lift or slide the...

    PLEASE HELP!!!

Ya not sure. And I’m not an expert by a long shot. Haven’t had a steering column on these trucks apart in probably 30 years. But I may get that chance here soon. My new ‘77 has a “catch” in the key switch that you have to work through to get it out of lock position. Sometimes…lol

    PLEASE HELP!!!

It’s been a long time since I messed with one. But it’s on the column and has slotted holes for adjustment. You get the stuck key thing fixed? That sounds more like shift linkage or ignition switch out of adjust ment.

    77 C-20

Nice truck! No reason the (presuming) healthy turbo 400 shouldn’t handle the motor. It’ll roast the tires before it breaks the trans. Maybe if you’re actually drag racing it or similar where you have enough traction to launch hard you might want a built trans.
