    Reverse Lights

C10 thank u again for the info. I was able to trace the problem to the wiring at the plug you mentioned in the rear. There was a terrible splice for some trailer wiring like you mentioned. All fixed now thanks again

    Reverse Lights

So ive been slowly tackling all the electrical and wiring issues on my 1980 Jimmy that I purchased about a year ago. What are these wires for?

Boone thank you so much for this info. This helps out a lot. I’m guessing the cut end probably passed through the firewall down to the tranny then since the other end is plugged into something up under the dash maybe the relays that you mentioned. This jimmy drivetrain was completely modified...

    Dome light wiring

Problem solved. Since I wanted to bypass the door jam switches I ran the white and orange wires along the cab directly to the white and orange of the courtesy lamp. Everything works with the turn of a switch

    Dome light wiring

so if im reading the wiring diagram correctly the thin red wire in the picture should not belong, instead the orange wire pictured should splice into the white wire coming off the door jam switch? If this is true I should be able to splice into the white wire coming off the courtesy lamp that...

    What are these wires for?

im not sure if the cluster I have is the original but its a basic cluster with all gauges - No Tach, no clock. Im hoping those wires are just for a tach option. If that's the case im fine with them hanging in there but if they should connect somewhere else im curious to know where

    What are these wires for?

Everything seems to work fine other than my domelight. Wasn’t sure if the previous owner had cut them or what happened? I’ll try reading the wiring diagrams again. I started there originally but I’ll admit I couldn’t make much sense of it

Thank you everyone who posted on this. I spliced the cut wires as instructed and now courtesy light is fully functional. I do have another question tho regarding the dome light. so I got my parts to rebuild my instrument cluster on my jimmy. After I pull out the cluster I find some more bad wiring from the previous owner.
