    As long as you took your time and methodically put it together I wouldn't worry about it. I've heard some horror stories about well known engine rebuilders on Jegs and Summit. Personally I would go with a Chevy performance engine above all .

    I'd go for it if the crank looks good. Definitely use assembly lube and not just engine oil when you replace the bearings. That damage could have been caused by a dry start, improperly installing the bearings, or failure to torque the caps properly.

    I would just get a new tank and straps if you need them, otherwise dump a box of Calgon dishwasher detergent in it and let it work for a day or two. Calgon is the recommended detergent to flush the cooling system on 2 stroke Detroit Diesels. It will more than likely clean up your gas tank.

    Just wanted to warn you. Some people think it's a kick down cable that doesn't need adjustment. You could go with a 4L80 if you want to mess with a stand alone computer and get some geek to make it work. That's an expensive endeavor though.
