Anyone ever used Monstaliner on dash pad or door panels?

I don’t have any close ups of the finish on my jeep but I did find the same Monstaliner finish I did with the leftovers on our tundras fender flares. It kinda shows the smooth roughness I’m talking about. It held up very well, no fading, and flexed on the plastic fenders for the 4 years while we...

Anyone ever used Monstaliner on dash pad or door panels?

Title says it all. After seeing lots of great dash restorations here, I’m curious how well spray paint is holding up in the sun over the years? I Monstaliner’d my cj5 interior years ago and was very pleased with its look, feel, and how it was kinda smooth textured vs gritty. Made me wonder if it...

Leaky steering box cause hydroboost brakes to drag?

Title mostly describes it, but I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the possible physics/mechanics of this issue. 1981 chevy k30 crew cab srw. Off-road designs rear disc conversion. Ive resealed the hydroboost unit with a seal kit, bled the brakes (mostly I hope....slight chance of bubble...

    Speedo gone wild

Could the same problem of a gummed up cable cause the opposite symptoms? My speedo works from 0-50mph pretty well then faster than that, it’s jumping all over from 55-85.

    Trucks with factory Blue

Here’s a pic of my ‘81 k30. Sticker reads either 23L or 23V, not sure how to interpret this. Either search lists “med blue”. Even though the paint is in terrible shape, I love the color. Someday it will get repainted in the same shade.

    Burnt valve 350...fix or swap to 383, 454, 6bt?

As a personal note, I wanted to close up this post with what I actually ended up doing. It’s only more than a year later . My dad had a ‘97 vortec 350 that I robbed the heads off of. They cleaned up well, and I bolted them on with new gaskets and an edelbrock vortec intake. Fired it up for the...

First engine project...swap just vortec heads onto old block or swap entire vortec?

hello everyone, please pardon the dumb questions for my first swap here. My 81 K30 crew has a 350 with bad valves in both heads and I have a trip coming up in about a month that I really need to be able to use my own truck instead of putting someone else out. I have a free, was running well, 97...

    Hydroboost and right rear dragging

I just wanted to give an update to this situation. I flushed the system and replaced the old proportioning valve. Not sure if this made a huge difference, but I had a disc/drum valve in before, then switched to a disc/disc by removing the rubber plunger from the rear line output as shown...

    Burnt valve 350...fix or swap to 383, 454, 6bt?

The 86 parts truck would never be registered again, unless I’m misunderstanding you, so no worries there. Back fees only apply if not renewed within 7 years. After 7, it’s s new title. At least that’s how it’s worked in the past with the motorcycles I’ve restored. I’d pull the big block and...

    Burnt valve 350...fix or swap to 383, 454, 6bt?

Considering your reply, I forgot to mention, this was a factory diesel, so no smog! Very thorough though, and valuable info. Thanks. My plan with the bbc would be no smog stuff, so just an intake initially, then mild cam, headers, and oval heads or other good flowing units, nothing crazy...

    Burnt valve 350...fix or swap to 383, 454, 6bt?

hey guys, I just gotta say first off, you all are a fantastic group of individuals. I’ve asked a few questions already to get my 81 CCLB project up to speed, and they’ve all been met with a high degree of human decency that lacks at other sites...you all know where I mean. To the question! I...

    Hydroboost and right rear dragging

Thanks for the ideas guys. It has discs in the rear, and the rear lines are brand new as well. I did NOT do a system flush and I know that’s an easy first step. I also did not double check to see if the pads are hanging up on the slides. I need to do these basic first steps, so I’ll report back...

    Hydroboost and right rear dragging

Hey guys my 81 k30 CCLB SRW is giving me fits. I got it with a partially completed rear disc conversion and finished that up with the appropriate parts. After a few miles/minutes of driving and fluid heats up, I notice that the right rear brakes starts to drag and eventually almost locks up...

For those who’ve added a np205 e-brake, which is best?

Forgot to mention, it’s the original or period correct drum brake 14bolt. It was retrofitted for discs with a RuffStuff conversion kit, so no original provisions for parking brake.

For those who’ve added a np205 e-brake, which is best?

The kits are essentially all the same, at least in function. They involve sandwiching a disc rotor between the transfer case output and yolk, and have a bracket with caliper that bolts to the body of the case. It’s supposed to hold well, and retain pedal functionality, albeit with a shortened cable.

For those who’ve added a np205 e-brake, which is best?

Hey fellas, I have an 81 crew cab with 350/sm465/205 and I just finished up the rear 14ff disc brake conversion, using 3/4 ton standard calipers instead of the complicated Eldorado stuff. Being a manual, I’d love to have (read: wife is demanding) an e-brake for the old Blue Moose. For those of...

2015 Suburban Middle seat swap into Crew Cab

Obviously a few years later.....Did you ever get the seats mounted? I just got my own crew cab and also found a great deal on late model suburban middle seats. I’d be curious to see how much you had to chop the mounts to fit the floor jump and yet retain seat functionality.

New to squarebodies with 81 k30 crew cab

Hello all, I’m excited to be a new part of the squarebody family! I just bought a new project to be a do-all fun rig for my family of 5. It’s an 81 k30 crew cab long bed 4x4. It was a factory diesel but now breathes with a 350, which is great because I don’t have to smog it here in CA. It’s...
