    Under-pad replacement suggestions?

So, if you didn't see my recent post in the rant thread, I spilled a gallon of gas inside the 'burb. Made a bit of a mess, but it could've been worse I guess. The bright red two-stroke mix made it pretty easy to see where it went. The carpet will have to be saved no matter what, I don't want...

    Small solenoid valve

I have this 1/4" valve that was shipped to me by mistake a few years ago. The shipper didn't want it returned so I tossed it in a drawer thinking I might find a use for it but that hasn't happened. Box is tired but the valve is unused. If someone wants to pay for the ride it's yours, USPS flat...

    Sway Bar Bushing Bracket

Anybody have one of these? It's the bushing bracket that holds the center section of a 1 1/4" sway bar to the frame. Needs to be from a 4wd. (I don't know why, but it has a different part number from the 2wd.) Measures aprox. 1 3/4" wide by 4 9/16" long.

    A/C Condenser Mounts

Don't know if anyone has a need for these but I have the upper and lower condenser mounts available. I didn't research this in detail, but saw a reference indicating '81-'91 mounts were all the same. Check for yourself to see if your application can use these from my '89. These are in very good...

    Sanden Serpentine Suburban

I've finished my Sanden compressor install. It was supposed to be exactly what Viktor did with his in this thread (https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/r4-to-sanden-whith-stock-ac-lines-for-serpantine.22437/) but I ended up doing a couple of things differently, some by choice and some not. I...

    Basic Air Conditioning questions

I'm in the process of installing a Sanden compressor but since I know little to nothing about ac I need to ask a question or three. Go easy on my lack of knowledge, this is like standing in front of the class without pants. Anyway, my intention is to get the components installed and have my...

    Sanden Condenser Compatibility

For those that have swapped to a Sanden compressor and r134, what are you using for a condenser? I've started ordering ac parts since my R4, which has been growling for a long time, finally threw in the towel this weekend. In reading about the conversion, it's recommended to upgrade the...

    Guess the car...

I was at a shop today getting some ppf installed on the wife's car and they were detailing this little thing. Hadn't seen one before, it turns out these were very limited production. Only one or two remain in driving condition. Right hand drive adds to the strange factor.

14b ff vs 14b sf width

I'm thinking about swapping my semi-float axle for a full-float. Found one on CL from an '86 Suburban with the 13" drums and 4.10 gears I need. Only concern I have is he lists the wms to wms as 66". I measured my semi-float axle and it's an inch wider at 67". Is that difference because his is...

    11" or 13" drums?

Can anybody tell from the pic what size drums are on the axle pictured? They look smallish to me and I'm thinking they are 11". Saw this 14b ff on craigslist but want the larger 13" brakes. Second pic is what I assume is a 13" drum.

    Differential leak

It looks like my 14b/sf is weeping from the axle tube housings. From the wetness pattern it doesn't look like it's the cover. Some sort of manufacturing holes there but don't know what purpose they serve. Something to do with locking the axle tubes to the diff maybe. So what are my options for...

    New tool for the shop

I have a rule that if I borrow a tool more than twice I have to buy one for myself. That's how I ended up watching craigslist for a chop saw. An ad came up from a contractor that was selling a bunch of tools and a cold cut saw was on the list. A cold cut saw uses a toothed blade instead of an...

    Tool Question- what are these?

These were in a box of junk someone was getting rid of. The largest one is 2.5" tall at the threads. Diameter of each is 5/8", 3/4", and 1". I'm thinking they're some sort of pipe flaring tool but I've never seen anything like them. The threads are spiral cut, the smallest one a standard 24...

    Does your ignition key...

Can your key come out when the truck is running? Just noticed I can remove the key and leave the motor on. Not sure if they're all like that or if my cylinder lock is worn.

Can anyone id this p/s pump?

So I need to replace my power steering pump. Problem is, it came from a junkyard when I did the hydroboost conversion and I don't know the year and model. I went to several parts stores and nothing they had looked like this. The issue is the fitting that screws into the pump. All the...

    HF pressure pot sandblaster

Spent a few days working with the Harbor Freight sandblaster and thought I'd review it since rust is a common issue. http://www.harborfreight.com/110-lb-pressurized-abrasive-blaster-95014.html I bought the largest model (95014) they have because it comes with a deadman's handle to...

While you're at the pick 'n pull

I lost one of the gaskets that goes under the oem roof rack on my Suburban. The local yards were no help. Not a big deal, I can make a replacement from scrap rubber, it just ticks me off I lost the original one. So if you're at a salvage yard and happen to see one of these racks I need...

    It's Retro & HRPC's Fault

Retro's pics got me looking at my old Craftsman box real hard and then HRPC mentioned the HF boxes were a good value for the money. I couldn't find a used Matco or Snap-On for less than 3 grand so I went with the HF offerings. Pulled a few strings and got this delivered to my door for $606.18...

    Floppy Brake Line Fix

When I lifted my truck I had to install longer lines to the front calipers but didn't like the sloppy way they hung in the wheel well. This quick fix took five minutes and would only have cost a couple of dollars if I hadn't already had the hardware. I put a 4" x 3/8" dia. spring on each of...

TBI fuel pump - Walbro install

After searching the net and not finding anything that covers Walbros and the square bodies, I thought I would post up a few pics. The reason for this upgrade is the stock pump can supply about 15psi and support engines up to around 275 horsepower, beyond that you'll have to go with something...

    Overhead light fix.

I need to replace a bulb in this light assy but can't get the thing to come apart. It seems like the center piece should come out first but I've tried every which way to pop it loose but no luck. Anyone else have one of these apart before?
