Brake problems are a PITA! ... sounds like ill be needing to flush all my lines too... back drums seem ok, i can bleed them... front right caliper has fluid coming out of the bleeder valve, but the pads are sticking and the wheel is hard to turn even with foot off the pedel.
front driver...
nice truck! you really cant go wrong with just about any year square!
ok its been years since i posted on here. I traded that white short for a motorcycle and had a lot of fun on it! bikes gone now.
I really missed posting and hanging out on this site with you all, so i went and got...
What if you rev it up to like 2-2.5k and drop it in drive?
I have absolutely no clue btw... Just following along lol

My 79 would blow coils too... I was using a cheap coil and revving it up to 6k... Figured that was my issue, but never actually figured it out... Used to blow every few months lol

My ignition switch wire comes from the big wire harness that runs across the firewall , opens up right by the valve cover and runs all the way down... On mine at least oh and it's red, but someone messed with it...
I should actually rewire it because sometimes I just get a click and have to...
I'm from York....
I bet you'll get lots of looks driving that beast around!
All my family over there think I'm crazy to have a 5.7 liter lol

If you unhook the throttle cable, can you manually open the throttle on the carb or does it feel like it's sticking? If not, it's the cable or the bracket, or the return spring is tight as hell.

Linkage is sticking or the arm that comes off the carb and holds the throttle cable came loose ... I've had that happen to mine

It's an awesome truck! I've got the same one, probably from the same factory lol 37810 are the last 5 on the vin ... And I was born in the UK ... What a coincidence ... Lol

Thanks! ... Now I think I need a new distributor, it's kinda gutless off the line and won't do a brake stand ... Not trying to brake it but it should be able to light em up!!! Lol
Dizzy not advancing maybe causing the weak take off?

I ran a mr. Gasket inline pressure regulator and set it on 3, gauge on the fuel rail has been reading about 6.5... Seems to like it.
I still think it needs some more tuning .... Timing and mixture maybe...
Pressure regulator stopped the bouncing fuel pressure gauge and excessive flooding...
Is 7 about max for these carbs? I was kind if thinking about lowering it but it seems to be running ok and don't wanna rock the boat lol...
I read somewhere anything over 3.5lbs will do, ... Any advantage with the Lower pressure? Save the needle seats maybe?

Installed a mr gasket fuel
Pressure regulator, $39 at orielly , fuel pressure is 7lbs now, runs way better, no flooding yet. :)

Carb still floods like crazy but it's random... Fuel pressure is floating around 10-11 ... Guessing that's a problem for this holley carb... Anyone have that happen? New needle, new float, still flooding like crazy

It's actually running 5-10 cooler with the timing adjustment. Fires right up with one pump cold and just turning the key when warm. I think I'll try and get a new dizzy, I really want an msd setup, the cap and rotor alone helped a lot but it like the dizzy and 6 al box too

Great thanks lol .....
doesn't seem to be hitting, I'm gonna let it go for now... Thinking a pan gasket will be needed before summer is over so I'll check then
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wouldn't that mean pulling the pan off? The tube would push up from the bottom if it was there? I don't see anything from the top side

So it wasn't the rockers making the noise, I pulled the dipstick out and it looks like it was rubbing the crank... New stick, no more tap.
