    Th400 orange wire

It makes it down shift when you stand on the gas. You need a switch that closes when you mash the throttle. If you don't mind manually shifting down to accelerate no you don't need it. I used a nitrous button on the shifter when I was 16 in one of my creations. I'd mash the gas hit the button...

    2wd vs 4wd shift linkage

Move it back to the other side, see if the problem is gone. If so tweak the arm and shift rod to get the clevis to sit right.

    2wd vs 4wd shift linkage

It's not my truck, but 1st thing I'd try is move the adjustment clevis to the other side of the arm and replace the cinch bolt with a short button head Allen. From your pic that looks like a quick 5 minute fix

What brake lines to get for lifted c10

I hate to tell you, don't use the ones from Amazon. When you are going back together go buy what you need at your local parts store. The ones from Amazon were examples, not what you need. Get the plain steel ones from behind the parts counter. You will never bend the stainless ones without...

No fuel in carb at start up

And if you have a 3 port pump the pump check valve becomes irrelevant in this situation because the check valve is before the return line so fuel still bypasses the pump through the return line to drainback. If you have a 3 port pump and the correct fuel filter for a 3 port pump there should...

    Where to get quadrajet rebuilt?

Look on amazon or ebay cliff Ruggles quadrajet performance. I'd build it myself, but I don't know your skills don't let the throttle shaft bushings intimidate you. If you do them, post up if you have questions, problems or are just nervous.

No fuel in carb at start up

Did you verify where your fuel pump is!!!!! Your getting way ahead of yourself, trying to find a cure without verifying what you have. P.S. if the needle and seat doesn't leak, The carbureator should still have fuel in it regardless if there's even a fuel running to it,if you have to prime it the...

    Fuel return help needed

If you are going to leave a vent line open put a fuel filter on it,the tank can vent,it can't create an airlock and starve for fuel, and dirt can't get in. A clear plastic one would be my choice.

    Edelbrock 660 electric choke

Should have looked where you lived before I hit the quote button and started a post. But too late, loosen the choke thermostat with car cold or cool. Yes cold or cool. Now hold the throttle open and rotate the choke tstat until the choke is just fully open, not cranked open, just open. Now it may...

No fuel in carb at start up

Your truck shouldn't have a relay or an electric pump. It should have a mechanical pump on the passenger side of the block, down low front corner. Verify. Then Verify if it has three lines running to it

Does it matter where this spring connects?

Best example I can show, and there are plenty of people that will argue the spring arrangement wears out bushings. Pic 1 demonstrates the straight pull . Cable pulling spring, spring pulling cable. No stress on throttle shaft. Pic 2 represents the spring I'd use and the type bracket I'd...

Does it matter where this spring connects?

Yes, it does matter, improper tension and or orientation of throttle return springs wear out the throttle shaft bushings. What carbureator ? On what truck? Better pic,no air cleaner. And proper it would be 2 springs 1 inside the other, not for additional tension but as a redundant spring. Hard to...

And regrinding the shoe arc. We used to turn drums with a wheel bolted on and torqued,so the drum would be turned in the same stressed condition it would be used in.

    Name brand or budget carb?

I am with 82 shortbed. An edelbrock is a budget carb copied off the old Carter, that GM replaced with the much better quadrajet. So your choice is get a budget knockoff of an outdated carbureator or a cheap knock off,off a knockoff, of an outdated carbureator. Hmm that's a tough one. Get a...

    Lack of acceleration

Probably best thing you can do right now is figure out your 0-60 time and post it. My car doesn't accelerate hard doesn't give us anything to work with, first we need to see if it accelerates normal, for what I am assuming is a stone stock 78 jimmy. We don't even know if its 2wd or 4wd. More info...
