    Traction Control Device Survey

I appologise if I posted in the wrong section, this is kind of a weird topic. I am a part of a team of students at Keller High School who are taking the Engineering Design and Development Course this year. In this course, we are designing and building a new traction control device. We are...

    LMC Factory Tach

Might try this...It is a tach that fits in where your fuel gauge is and has both fuel and tach in one. http://www.gmsportssalvage.com/?q=node/1530

    Fuel Pump Install

Just found out that my fuel pump went out so I will be replacing that this weekend. My question is it easier to drop the tank or to just pull the bed? I have dual tanks and one has the bad fuel pump and the other has been having troubles with the sending unit so I will be working on both of...

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

That's interesting...did some research and it checks out. Guess I miss understood. so it looks like this is a bad idea?

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

the sprags are helped by the gear selector not being in overdrive. I don't want to have to pull the pan to do this, that would cost a lot more than my $10 switch.

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

the only reason that I want to wire a switch in is so that when towing in the city I can lock up the torque convertor. I usually have it in drive (not overdrive) when towing at speeds less then highway speeds so that I don't hurt the sprags. my 700r4 doesn't have 3rd lock up and I was looking...

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

I have adjusted my idea from my original post. it would be a switch in parallel with the computer so that when the switch is in the off position, the computer decides when the torque convertor locks up. This would be beneficial during towing in town. the torque convertor wont lock up in 2nd or...

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

What are yall's thaughts on this? My plan is to use a kit form Bowtie Overdrives(http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/catalog/catalog_inc/viewitem.php?ITEMID=338) and wire it with a switch similer to the Highbeam switch on the older squares. This would go into my 87 with a 700r4. This should improve...

    Starting Issues TBI 350

ran this test and the idle stays the same. I replaced the IAC and it will start no problem. I still have the issue that it will die when idling for a long time. it will slowly lower rpm and then sputter and die. Could it be something to do with the oil pressure fuel shut off?(idles to low...

    Starting Issues TBI 350

I ran the following test on the iac valve:I started the truck and unplugged the iac valve, the engine speed remained the same. this would signify that the iac valve is bad right?

    Starting Issues TBI 350

Attached is the Tunerpro file, if it helps. The only error codes that I saw was high map and EST. if the map sensor is still under warranty, I will replace it. I found parts to do an inline fuel gauge that adds up to 25 bucks, going to do it this week.

    Starting Issues TBI 350

it seems more to me that it is running out of fuel. The O2 Sensor is new. Will pull codes this afternoon.

    Starting Issues TBI 350

The past few days my truck has had some issues starting. When I first turn the key it fires right up but within a few seconds it sputters and dies; it doesn't matter how much gas I give it. Then when I try to start it again it has to crank for a while and, with the throttle is half way open, it...

    camel back heads?

The thumpr cams are just high durration cams. this is for high rpm horsepower and when it sounds "mean" it is missing at idle because of the high durration. For the low end grunt you want a smaller durration so you will probably need to settle for something in between.

    Engine Over hall.

That kit looks complete for the bottem end but still missing stuff to rebuild the heads and some of the small stuff like assembly lube and silicone. you could probably do it your self minus the machine work. I would let the machine shop rebuild the heads with their parts, its easer that way...

    Timing chain question

I don't think that gm ever use nylon on the 350s. My 87 came with a steel one.
