    Clutch Slave Cylinder

Eh, well, i ended up doing a low pressure reverse bleed on the clutch system with my motive pressure bleeder attached to the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder. I was finally able to get some pedal, but i'm not exactly thrilled with it. If it's not raining tonight i'll remove the slave and do...

    Clutch Slave Cylinder

Yeah, no worries. That's what i did. I figured i'd just post up in the offchance that someone had the info.

    Clutch Slave Cylinder

This is a shot in the dark... I've been hassling over the clutch in my 87 R30. The bleeding is not going well. So, i'm out today to replace a couple of items. I need to pick up a new bleeder for the slave cylinder. Anyone happen to know the standard size required? I left the damn thing on...

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

Perfect, chief. That's the only thing i'm missing before i get on to other parts of the truck. Thank you.

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

I had two late model F150 Flaresides (1998 / 1999) before this R30. Head gaskets went on both within the span of a year of owning each of them. One of them shot a rod. And they weren't exactly cheap trucks. This R30 cost me 900 bucks, and after this rebuild plus the new rear tires i'm still...

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

I don't have any love or hate for this truck. It's simply my work-horse to haul wood, go to the dump, or haul anything else i can think of. I'd love to get another to use as a toy, but between my truck, my car, and my Harley, I don't have alot of room.

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

And Sunday it fired. Just need to button up a few things and it'll be complete. The rest of the fluids for one, and i need to figure out what the bolt size is for the distributor clamp to the intake manifold... i seem to have lost that bolt in the process.

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

Figured its been a while since the fire, so I may as well post up that I think Sunday i'll have my truck up and running again. Been raining alot, and the truck isn't indoors, so it's been a long repair.

    Anyone got Stacks?!?

Looks good, 87silveradk20. I like the look of stacks regardless of what is running. I'm considering them for my new build as I haven't found anything i'm happy with with relation to my flatbed.

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

I'm no rookie to bending line, and I have a flaring tool. I just don't think i have a 3/8 die, heh. It's like my 10mm box... I had it when i bought it, but it disappeared, never to be seen again.

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

You're talking like a 3/8" steel line, yah? I hadn't even considered that. Might be a good idea now that you mention it. Do you run it in the same way that you run a brake line... double flared with brass fittings?

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

Unfortunately, i don't have my vin in front of me, but i can tell you that the truck was carbureted when i purchased it. As for emissions, my truck is exempt in my state. Anything over 20 years old is considered a 'classic' and given exemption from emissions and inspection. It's a 'register...

    Engine Fire - 87 Chevy R30

Figured i'd post up here as i'm starting to get ready to rebuild after an engine fire. I've got an 87 Chevy R30 with a 350. It had been in my shop for a few weeks on jackstands while i worked issues with the brake system... that was a whole other jarful of issues. Got the brake system...

    87 R30 - Weak Rear Brakes

So, an update. GM p/n 18060010 / 5469384 looks to be for a pancake vacuum diaphragm booster. I should have mentioned, or dug a bit deeper, that this is a hydroboost application. I'd be looking at item 29 (pn 00377397 / 129959). 18060010 / 5469384 looks to be about an inch too short for the...

    87 R30 - Weak Rear Brakes

Chengny - MUCH appreciated for your input. I didn't even think to check the pushrod. I shit you not, i just took apart the front of the hydro and the previous owner had slapped a rounded over bent bolt with a washer in there. I just ordered the new pushrod. Thank you for the input. I'll...

    87 R30 - Weak Rear Brakes

Yeah... rear load sensor is gone. Replaced with a T block to route left and right. So, that's not a can of worms that i need to get into, heh. Understood on actuating the brakes without the drum. I needed to see if the wheel cylinders were actually moving. Which they are... just not much...

    87 R30 - Weak Rear Brakes

I'm having some issues with my brake system and need some outside perspective. This is on a 1987 Chevy R30 dually, disc/drum setup. Problem is that i don't have any braking power at the rear. I can actuate the wheel cylinder. The cylinder will move, but only slightly. What i've replaced in...

    Square body flatbed

This is my 87 R30 a few months back. I've changed out the tires since to big muds in the rear, but it's a full size flatbed.

    86 R30 Front Coil Springs

I have an 87 R30 (1 ton, 2wd, dually). I'm in the market to swap the front coil springs out with something taller. The rear has undergone a shackle flip (previous owner), so the front is riding a tad low. This works fine for the hauling around of shit that do, but i'd like to match out the...

Dually Tires - M/T Tread... possible?

I recently bought myself a 87 1-ton R30 Dually Flatbed. Truck runs and drives well, and is strong, but it's showing age (rocker panels are about gone, as well as the driver side floor tub). I'm going to be using it to haul firewood, aside from the other random other junk I do. Alot of the...
