So my oil cooler lines were rubbing...

When I pulled the engine a couple weeks ago I found my oil cooler lines rubbing. So I thought "Make new ones!" Here's what I've got:

    Well crap

I bought this 86 Suburban 3 years ago with a rebuilt engine. Took the valve covers off and it looked beautiful. Removed the intake and it looked like it had never been run. Guy said less than 200 miles on the rebuild. Score! It took forever to get the lost title from California to Washington, so...

    Looking for HP estimate

Before anything, I want to stress that I'm not looking for as much horsepower as possible. I'm just curious what I will be making. 86 K20, 350, th400, NP208 Engine was rebuilt 2 years ago and has less than 2000 miles since. Factory heads. I'm swapping cams to Summit Racing K1102 cam/lifter...

    In case you wondered...

It's the time of year where my job requires me to turn in my measuring tools for calibration. My Snap On and Tekton torque wrenches did well (within 3% of target torque). So I asked if they would look at my Pittsburgh Pro 3/8 and 1/2 inch torque wrenches that I use at home. Here's the results...

    Anybody recognize these wheels?

I bought a trailer with these wheels on it and I'm trying to figure out what they came from. Looks like it used to be an axle from an old truck. Note the very wide lug pattern. Thanks

    Lights on top of fender?

Just bought a fender to replace the crunched one on my Suburban. I noticed it has 2 lights on the top of the fender, one towards the front and one towards the back. Is this some kind of option or aftermarket thing? I was going to cover them up.

Thinking about a "high-lift" jack stand (pair)

I'm working on a pair of high-lift jack stands for when I need a little extra room underneath the truck. I've got 1/4" plates 12"x11", and 2.5" square tube 1/4" thick. I welded the tube to the plate, now I need to make gussets and weld them on. I want to use a piece of 2"x2" tube to slide...

I lost the plate for my engine stand!

I moved from Sacramento to Vancouver, WA and somehow in the move, the plate for my engine stand got lost. Rather than buy one, I'm making a new one. I don't get to use the plasma cutter as often as I'd like, so the slots aren't perfect.

Made a power pod last week

Made a power pod for my electrical accessories. It has 2 cigarette lighters and a USB qc3.0 charger for fast charging. Cost less than 50 bucks to make.

    Made a new tool

Working on a friend's carburetor, I decided I needed a carb stand. Got some scrap from the fabrication bay at work and made one. I could have just ordered one for less than 40 bucks, but it's fun to make things.

    Made an accessory fuse block

Hey all. I made an accessory fuse block and mounting bracket. (OK I didn't make the fuse block, but I did the layout and insert the connector receptacles). It has circuits for CB/Ham radio, front/rear LEDs, and power taps for phone/device charging. The wiring came from work. I just used some...

    Some useful data (possibly)

At work, we have to have our personal measuring tools calibrated (We have a lab onsite that does this for us). I went to Harbor Freight and picked up some tools for something I'm working on at home and got one of those free multimeters that they love to give out. Just for kicks, I brought it...

Need help with an acceleration issue

Hello all! Longtime lurker here. I usually don't post a lot because I typically find my answers using search. However this one has me stumped. 86 Suburban K20 350 with th400. CA emissions, totally stock engine was rebuilt recently. I bought it cheap because it had issues. The transmission leaks...

    What am I missing?

Hi all- New to the forum and squarebody GM trucks. I've always love the 80's suburbans. The other day, o finally got a 1986 half ton with the 350. It's a California car, so emissions have to be met. The car had a blown head gasket, so I didn't do a very thorough inspection under the hood...
