Rear sliding glass

I've been trying to replace mine and am getting all kinds of concerns. Anyone know a legit replacement?

I don’t know how flexible you are on it, but I would recommend solid. It’s aesthetically cleaner, less moving parts and seals to concern yourself with, and it’s not really eye candy to the guy who wants to either steal your truck or burgle its contents. There are a couple upsides to them, but I’m definitely a proponent of the solid rear window. I don’t know how squares are about fumes coming in, but my dad’s ‘96 F350 has the sliding rear window, and he’d never let us open it as kids because the truck would fill up with fumes. Just my $0.02.

My C10 has a slider and I really like it. Although without tailpipes, fumes come into the cab something fierce. With full exhaust though, there were no fumes.

My crew cab has a solid back glass. I see no point in a slider glass for that application.

My dad used to pry it open and crawl in when he locked his keys up in there, which was a plus. I guess if you’re a kid, and you have a dog back there, it’d be fun to open up and talk to them while you’re going down the road. Ah, who am I kidding, I’d do that right now.

My 78 has the factory slider and I LOVE IT!!! Summer time with both windows down and the wings open plus the slider open... man at a stop light i LOVE punching it to hear the true duals, no cats and flowmaster super 44's all on 3" pipes from the headers yelping! Cant beat it!

I used one from C.R. Laurence Co., Inc. for my last truck (see Below). The latch is different, but it mounts the same. I used a standard window gasket with no trim. The only thing I didn't like is when I washed the truck, sometimes water would get through the vertical seals. The second link is for their 3 panel power slider.

If you have full exhaust you’re good on fumes, plus it’s always good to have a spare entrance for when you lock you keys in or your doors break(and yes, I’ve had both outer door handles break on me)

I learned that very early on, i have an outside key box on mine somewhere.

I want a power slider for my crew cab! Just cant see spending that kind of money

I just installed a factory sliding window in my 75 stepside this weekend. I wanted the "old school" look so I searched for a factory one. The new ones just don't have the look I wanted. After searching for about 6 or 7 months, I found a cherry factory one off a 76, in mint condition. I paid way too much for it ($300) but it was like new and came with a new seal. I searched for months and found there is a lot of junk out there for sale. I wanted a real nice one for my restoration. Love the look. I have had quite a few over the years and never had an issue with exhaust fumes. Of course, the first two things I do when I get a truck is new, nice sounding exhaust and a new stereo and speakers. Gotta enjoy the ride while working on the truck.

Go to anywhere that sells keys they should have the little black key hider. Get your truck keys copied and put them in the box, find any place thats hidden that the magnet will stick to. On top of the frame rail, behind the bumper or anything like that. Then when your locked out you know you can get in. Just dont tell people where you put it so nobody steals your truck lol
