This not really tech, but I don't know where else to put it.

My truck is a 1973 C20 350CID TH350 8200 GVW.

It has been denuded of all emblems, and been modified plenty.

There is no RPO tag on the glove box.

Is there anything I can look at to give me a clue?

Seat is bench velour, but that could have been changed.

It has dual horns.

Aftermarket grill, hood insulation. crate motor with 4BBL spreadbore manifold (probably original), all emissions stuff long gone.

Post a few pics, especially of that seat and door trim panels. That will tell us what trim level (if original).

Any other clues? Vinyl flooring or carpet? No emblem on the dash above the glovebox? (Normally it would say "Scottsdale" or "Custom Deluxe" or whatever).

Where was the truck built? The GM Heritage Center does not have build data for your truck, but GM of Canada would if it was built in Canada or built in the US for Canadian consumption.

Keith, thank you for your quick and informative response. I will take pictures today as soon as the sun comes up. I read that dual horns came with one of the upper trim levels. True???

All floor coverings (if there were any) are long gone, prior owner sprayed undercoating throughout cab.

Cab back wall has row of male snaps across it, just under rear window.

Only has hip seat belts (no shoulder).

Has gauges, no tachometer. Mechanical oil gauge. Ammeter. No clock. Brake warning light. No wood grain. Dash emblem gone.

Steering wheel replaced with aftermarket. Non-tilt. Radio removed. Once had windshield antenna. Windshield has been replaced. Back window replaced.

Its a '73, but side window rollers are large, not the 5/8" ones supposedly a one year deal. Both sides.

If there's no screw holes on the bottom section of the door for color matching carpet panels you can probably eliminate Silverado trim. No pull-straps on the door either, although I don't know if that was always part of the package.

Based on pictures, anyone hazard a guess on trim?

Well, since it has a headliner and trim, assuming it is original, 1973 model, maybe a "Cheyenne Super 20".

Picture in post #6 shows a row of snaps across the back wall just under the window. What are they for and is this a clue for trim level?

It's really hard to say because it doesn't look like an unmolested truck. A lot of things can get swapped around, especially when someone goes to the trouble of a color change.

The lack of body mouldings, base door panels and plain gauge cluster say it was a low trim level. But the headliner trim, marker trim and taillight trim say higher level, like a Cheyenne.

I saw those and remembered seeing a tool pocket hanger back in the day, I figured it was for those... or maybe a camper boot.

Snaps in back on rear of cab are for insulation, not available on Custom
Vehicle has dual horns with factory harness, not offered on Custom.

Truck has following options that are standard on Custom Deluxe RPO Z62 but not on Custom trim.

RPO Z52 Plush seat
RPO Z53 Guages
RPO C91 dome light
RPO U37 Cigar lighter
RPO 870 Padded dash

Other options on truck available on all trims

RPO N40 Power steering
RPO DG4 dumbo mirrors
RPO U63 or U69 radio
RPO M49 Automatic transmission
RPO C60 Air conditioning
RPO LS9 350 CID 4 BBL motor

The upgrade from custom to Custom Deluxe is $108.00

My reasoning is:

1. Dual horns not available on Custom
2. Back of cab insulation not available on Custom
3. Truck has 5 RPOs that must be ordered separately on Custom
4. Truck is well optioned, a C20 8200lb capacity (upgrade)

For the extra $108 to Custom Deluxe, and the extra options, and getting the top set of RPOs ALL standard on Custom Deluxe (plus more trim stuff), I believe the original owner went for the Custom Deluxe.

Anyone see any flaws in my logic???
