Looking for some advice on a torque converter for my setup, I've been looking at some hughes "tow master" series, and some b&m's.

What brands do you guys like?

Also wondering what would be the optimal range for my setup for the stall spec.

This is in an 84 suburban the setup is a stock 350, may do an rv cam in the future but that's about it. 700r4 with a 208 behind it with 3.73's.

Its gonna be an all around do anything kind of vehicle, some occasional mudding and thrashing with a lot of backroads cruising and section lines and some city and highway driving. I also plan to do work with it, haul an occasional project and pull a trailer every now and then, from a pickup box trailer to a car trailer, maybe a boat.

Its not a speed demon but I don't want it to be a turd, and want it to perform when I need it to.

I’ve seen lots of good reviews on the OEM remans that the parts stores sell. I got a stock stall model online from Advance for a good deal to replace my bad one when I rebuild the 700R4 in my car. Of course, I’m at 262,000 on an unrebuilt tranny from 1985, and it’s still going strong so no idea when that’ll happen. The clutch inside the converter is what’s damaged on mine. I’d be hesitant to get an aftermarket one because mine would be the one that the output shaft wouldn’t seat in the pump. I can’t speak to what stall you need. It seems to me like stock would be fine for what you plan to do, but I can’t see you needing one level higher than stock.
