New garage

Well I signed a contract on a house 200 miles from where I have lived for the past 36 years. I’m leaving a 20 acre mini farm with a 30x40 detached garage for a home with 1 1/2 acre lot. Moving to be close to our grandkids which we have been daycare providers since they were born 2 years ago. Not sure how many vehicles I’ll be able to keep and which ones may have to go. Scary part is I haven’t sold my current abode, but I need a little time to go through every thing.

At least the new place has two attached garages. One on the ground level and one in the basement. It will be a challenge to get organized enough to keep all my stuff inside and still be accessible. Organization is not my strong suit. I would like to have a shop building but in this subdivision it would be cost prohibitive.

At 17 my home was smaller than my garage is now. With time all things will come your way.

You are right!! We moved about 2 years ago into my mother's old house and added on to it. Was 1026 square feet now about 1800 square feet. Big SINGLE car garage. Across the alley from the house is a 100 x 150 lot we bought just before we moved. We chain linked it curbed, guttered and sidewalked it and built a 20x50 5 car storage and a new 32x30x12 main shop. Sold my old shop (40x50) downtown and tried to put all that stuff into the new one. Not working very well! But I have the room I want and now the time to do what I want. So it CAN happen!!! (wife still working YEA)

Beautiful looking home. What's all that green stuff... mine is covered in pine needles.

I know about pine needles. At my old home I have some pine trees that were Christmas trees when my son was a baby, he’s 38 now, and I never knew they shed their needles like they do. I have one quite close to my garage which faces the west and I am constantly sweeping needles out that the wind blows in when I leave the doors up.

The new place does have a nice stand of grass. If I killed all the weeds in my current yard it would be half brown and half green.

Still haven’t moved, closing is set for June the 28th, then the fun begins with a lifetime of stuff to move.

Closed on the house last week so it’s mine now. Down side is the carpet and tile work didn’t clean up as we had hoped, so more money has to go in before we can move in plus the money I’m spending on getting my current residence ready to sell.

Plus side is the basement garage has heat and air! Actually the entire basement has hvac! Another plus is that it has a commercial style stainless steel sink setup with hot and cold water. Both garage spaces need better lighting and fresh paint but will suffice for now.

I still may have to sell something because of space. I have a 2015 Camry, 2005 Titan, 1999 Corvette, 1995 Impala SS, 1985 Silverado, 2003 Rincon, 1999 Valkyrie, and a 2015 **** turf tiger and that’s just items with wheels, not counting my two trailers that usually set outside. Decision time is coming!

Personal opinion id ditch the toyota and nissan lol i sure as **** wouldnt ditch that impala though! What color is it?

The Impala is dark cherry metallic. The Titan has been a relatively trouble free workhorse for 166,000 miles and is ferrying a lot of my stuff the 200 miles from old residence to new, it will have to stay around for a while. The Camry is the wifes and our only gas saver. It’s a hrbrid and averages 35 miles per gallon and in stop and go city driving can achieve 40+ mpg. The Camry was totaled in February but I bought it back so now due to the rebuilt title it’s better for me to drive the value out of it. I ended up with a 32000 mile vehicle that’s paid for with very little out of pocket costs.

Thanks, that’s why I’ve kept this car for 23 years, I still love the overall look and lines of the last of the B bodies with body on frame construction. The camera is being kind though, the picture is only a few months old but the paint is showing it’s age and 211,000 miles. The car has not seen a repair shop but twice in its life with all the maintenance being handled by myself.

I share your admiration for the early Impalas too. One of the kool kids in high school a few years older than me had a red 64 SS Impala that was sex on wheels to me back then. I also have a soft spot for the bubble top Impalas too.
