I snagged this pic a while ago, its the front passenger pad that should have the engine code. Although when I try to use typical decoders it doesn't match up. It had goodwrench 350 valve covers when I bought it so I assume its not original. I just wanna be sure its a 350 and see when it was made. If anyone knows what kinda decoder to use I'd appreciate it, but the one in the service manual doesn't match, thanks

Im no expert by any means but id say that is aftermarket. The factory stamping pad should extend farther up twords the intake and from what ive seen the factory stamping is usually up higher. Such as this...

There should be a casting code on the drivers side rear behind the head but the gives you a year range... the front pad is more specific. Thats how i found that my 350 came from a 73 car not a 78 c10 lol

This page may or may not help you isolate what your after. It helped me nail down exactly what my motor was from. Plus helped me learn what the block suffix code and block casting code was

Here's what I found when researching my motor.
1= chevy
M= Mexico
317= March 17
4= year 84?
VP was a Target Master reman block, which is what GM called it before changing the name to Goodwrench. From what I've found the VP means it's a 350 ci 260 hp..
