Best 4x6 LED Bulbs?

I have a 91 Burb with the 4 headlight system, they are the small 4x6 lights and I am looking to replace them with the assembly that has full LEDs. I am looking for suggestions based on quality and price. And also, will I need to do the 'headlight upgrade' wiring mod for these to work properly? thanks.

Are you just looking for enhanced brightness, or do you like the look of the LEDs plus you want the brightness? I can recommend the Sylvania Xtrabright sealed beam, which has the same useful life as a basic sealed beam. That’s what I use on mine, and they’re perfect for me. That’s with the stock harnesses, by the way. I’m willing to bet that a relay harness would give me a little more juice, but it’s not really necessary for me. If that’s not up to par with what you’re looking for, I understand. I just wanted to plug what I use. I’m not into the whole LED/HID scene, but there are folks here that can help.

I like the look of the LED style as well but I know they make other sizes that are direct plug in. I just was looking for advice on good ones that won't die immediately. XtraVision yeah?

XtraVision is a good incandescent one with your traditional amber light. The SilverStar ones are junk at least for headlights. I use the little ones for instrument clusters, and they’re fine. The sealed beam headlights have a shorter lifespan, and they may not even make that. I’ve seen the sealed beam style LEDs, and then you’re gonna have the sealed beam housings that you can put bulbs in. The former will plug right into the stock harness. I’m not sure about the latter, but I’d think you’d have to replace the stock connectors with something more modern going that route. I don’t know about the brands or the upkeep cost on any of that, though. I like what I have, and the only upgrade I would consider doing personally is the relay harness to give more power to the lights and take the strain off the headlight switch.

The head light relay really makes the lights brighter than stock wiring. Before I spent the money on this i wanted to see the different, I pulled up to my garage had the truck running with headlights on. Then connected a thick gauge jumper wire I made to the batter and touched to positive on the headlight to see how much of a difference it made before spending money. If was noticeable enough I went in an ordered a relay harness that night.

I always recommend the wiring harness upgrade even if you stay with the stock sealed beams. It takes the load off of the switch and pulls directly from the battery.

I dont know that they make an all in one led unit for the 4701/3 size. If they did I would bet its just an ebay company with minimal QC. I think you may be better off getting conversion housings and dropping an LED bulb in there. Opt7 seems to be a commonly used company for LED lights.

I've used both LMC and Hella conversion housings and both do great with regular halogen bulbs. Cant say anything about LEDs and im currently running HID in my Hellas. Main differences between the two are the LMC uses 9005 and 9006 bulbs for high and low respectively and Hella uses H4. The other difference is that Hella looks like the oem housings while the LMC are clear.
