I have my backer boards cut. Going to cover with black carpeting, put vents in and chrome strip back on. (I think)

What material did you use for the boards? You using OEM screws from LMC or someone like that?

Previous owner I guess destroyed the originals on the suburban I bought. Mine are currently rhino lined and a little fuzz wouldnt hurt.

Board is just pegboard without holes. $8 for 4x8 sheet at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

I’m actually using plastic panel fasteners. Will drill large hole with small hole next to it (connecting holes). Fastener goes in large hole side then slides across to smaller side. Then will drill appropriate size hole in door for fastener to snap in to. No visible screw heads in carpeting.

I just carpeted one. Stapled plastic vent in first. Then covered vent with blue tape. Sprayed panel with spray glue then layed carpet. Cut out vent 1/4” smaller than vent all around. That extra 1/4” tucks into the side of the vent leaving a clean look.

Have to sleep for work tonight. But will be debating the chrome strip. I predrilled holes in backer board in case I do decide to put chrome trim on.

Why bother with vents?

My wife chimed in and said to keep the chrome strips. I have so many decisions to make in a short amount of time, I actually allow her to make one or two for me.

Hey, at least she participates. It’s a kicker whenever your girl snubs you when you’re doing the thing you like and that thing itself.

Oh, and for the intents and purposes of the lower panels...

I’ve got a ways to go before even thinking about putting door panels on. But have them finished up. Still debating on chrome strip or painting strip silver to match window and door lock switches.
