Tail Lights for a Roll Pan

So quick back story. I bought my square as a project that someone had given up on. So the original owner went through and installed panels to cover the tail lights and put bondo over the panels. His idea was to install a roll pan and put a LED bar for tail lights. I'm not a fan of the LED bars so my plan is to install 67-72 C10 style lights in the roll pan and was wondering if anyone had any pictures of one or had done the same thing themselves

I think you're on your own with those tails. I've seen plenty of roll pans with the vette lights, either thr older round ones, or the newer kinda squared of ones. Unless you already have the '67-'72 lights, i'd recommend a set from a '78+ el-camino. Iirc, they're completely rectangular, and don't have the odd rounded end like the '67-'72s did.

The plan is to rotate the lights horizontally and feather them into the roll pan

I understood that, I figured that the rounded portion by the back -up light would look kinda odd

whereas the more rectangular shape of the elco tails would look better

Yeah that would work too

I say sport/ Blazer bumper with Elco lights graphed into it to mimic the Elco bumper that would be different for sure and look good too

I almost wonder how far off the elco bumper is from the original truck bumper

I had the same thought too. lol even if you sectioned it and got it rechromed or painted it I think it would look good

Have you considered leds but in a configuration that looks closer to the oem tail light instead of a lightbar? They will far outlast incandescent bulbs, draw a lot less power and they dont heat up and melt the plastic lenses.

Can I suggest to take a gander on E-Bay....there are a ton of options out there and with leds, you can build your own light setup.....just my 2 cents.

I wanted to keep the oem tail lights in my build, but with a twist. I basically gutted the housing of all incandescent bulbs and wire a series of led strands together parallel to one another. The led strips are much brighter than the other bulbs did. All of my bulbs in the square both exterior and interior have been replaced with leds. The only bulbs left are the headlights.

So here are just some mock ups of what I was thinking. As for the LED lights I meant I don't like the bars. Problem is the oem tail lights were done away with. So in order for me to get back to the original look I would have to rebuild the tail light area since the previous owner welded in cover panels and covered it in bondo
