New Gauge Cluster - Some Gauges don't work right

In my old gauge cluster, the gas gauge did not work and the speedometer sounded like it was going to explode. The lens cover was terribly yellow and the mounting points were mostly all broken...so I bought a really nice refurbished unit on Ebay.

The Speedo works nicely.

The gas gauge still doesn't work - here's what it does. On my first start up, the needle slowly rose all the way until it was facing the opposite direction (pegged to the RIGHT). Every once in awhile, the needle will spaz out and flip back and forth...but mostly it just sits all the way to the RIGHT. This is actually the same as the last Fuel Gauge, so the problem is somewhere outside of the gauge.

The oil pressure gauge is now pegged all the way to 80. The original gauge maxed at 60 and worked fine.

This new cluster has a clock, but I haven't plugged it in yet. I assume it plugs into the fuse block so if anyone has a diagram, that'd be awesome. I haven't yet looked for this, so I'll get started on that too.

Yes, the clock has it's own harness. The power wire plugs right into a BAT slot on the fuse panel, and from what I remember, the ground wire plugs into a bank of ground terminals up on the kick panel area.

Thank you for the great information. Anyone have ideas on the Oil Pressure gauge? Should I try putting in the original Oil Gauge? I don't really want to take this new unit apart unless absolutely necessary.

@Sublime Thanks for the advice. Am I correct that the fuel Sending unit is on TOP of the gas tank, so I'll need to drop the tank to access it?

The ground is soldered to the top of the sender, and bolts to the frame not too far away. Shouldn't need to drop the tank to inspect the contact point on the frame.

For this you only have to pull the bezel and lense. Well, and the gauge if course. You don't have to pull the entire cluster out to swap any of the individual gauges, other than the speedometer.
