Battery drain

If he was it isn’t no skin off my ass lol but there is no way an electrical system can drain a power source with no source of power.

If the OP didn't understand that Law of Physics then, he probably does now..

As a side note, and in defense of the OP.. As opposed to today's batteries, yesterday's batteries almost always gave a warning they were approaching their end of life service.. Today, no such warning exists.. My wife's car is a 2002 model.. The car turned 10 years old and still had the original battery.. The battery would consistently pass a load and charge retaining test.. CONSISTENTLY.. It was still functioning perfectly when finally replaced it at 11 years old.. The original battery in my 2007 vehicle didn't even make it to 5 years, although it did give a warning in the form of slow cranking speed.. During the next few years, I replaced two more batteries, the second one two years ago. Both failed without warning.. Two months ago another battery failed without warning.. Not only are today's batteries pure junk, they're impolite too..

The OP might have been under the assumption that his battery is too young to fail, must be something wrong with the truck..

Argh, modern batteries really piss me off. What a bunch of overpriced garbage. You never know if one will actually make it a few years or **** the bed in just a few months. And trying to get one replaced under warranty is a couple day ordeal... hope you don't need to drive your truck.

And boy do they like to bitch when they can't test it because it's frozen. WTF are you supposed to do, take it out of the truck and tuck it into bed every night? Of course it's frozen, it's a junk ass battery that won't hold a charge and it's cold outside. *********.

Then when your warranty battery takes a **** too, some parts guys like the Advance ******* in Blackstone VA won't even bother testing the POS. The ignorant sumbitch will just insist it's a problem with the truck. Despite the fact that previous batteries all tested and failed with flying colors. Truck is fine by the way, alt charges good and there's no drain on the battery.

But anyway yeah, modern batteries are crap. You can trust one about as far as you can throw it. Doesn't matter what brand.

I had decent luck with x2power from battery plus, but it is an expensive battery.

EXACTLY!!! The price of that garbage has shot through the roof in the past couple years.. Two and a half years ago a 3 year battery cost me 70 something dollars.. Two months ago a 2 year battery cost me $104.00 and that included my military discount.. I had given thought to getting an Optima until the guy told me they cost over $200.00..

But the biggest complaint I have is the sumbitches leak acid and ruin otherwise perfectly good metal.. My old GMC has a bolt-in battery tray so it's easy enough to change.. My 2007 Ford Ranger has the battery tray welded in.. The battery I changed 2 months ago leaked acid and now I have to replace the entire inner fender panel and refinish a portion of the frame horn... And with the base-price-equipment that's added just as a way to increase the price of a vehicle that's attached to the panel makes it an all day ordeal.. When I questioned O'Reilly's about "collateral damage" caused by their junk battery, they said the charging system voltage is too high, causing the battery to "boil".. 13.8- 14.2 is the spec and mine is 13.98.. Can't they at least design a battery to operate within those specs????????

Just install a agm or sealed lithium ion battery and forget it.......

Did someone forget that liquid filled batteries dont like being bounced around. The plates degrade, break and lead to early failure. Modern liquid acid batteries are crap, cheaply made and are engineered to barely last. Manufacturers rely on cheap labor to mass produce batteries. Batteries here in Az MIGHT last 2 years...if you're lucky 3. I always buy batteries with a full replacement non pro rated batteries. My offroad vehicles all have been updated to lithium ion units. Sure, they are expensive but extremely reliable, lightweight, take tons of abuse (vibrations, inversions (occasional roll-overs)...and so far have outlasted any other batteries we have purchased. The last thing I want to worry about when pre running a desert track or being 150 mile from the nearest anything is a dead battery. I know it may be overkill for a daily driver only used for on road use, but for the reliability to me it's well worth it. The technology is out there, but it can be expensive. In this case you do get what you are willing to pay for. Expect acid rot and short term reliability if you want to keep installing and using liquid acid batteries.

Not all of us have a top shelf truck deserving of such a fine power storage Lol


Hahaha...its far from top shelf. Hell it too had a liquid acid battery until last month. With it sitting more than driving and constantly on a trickle charger...the battery needed desulfating all of the time...I just gave up and forked out the funds for a better battery.
