Ugh...ive installed 2 power window regulators on my driver side 1986....both make a popping noise when lowered....its a dorman regulator. Nothing is in loose/obstructed. MY QUESTION IS : Does the power motor have to be installed EXACTLY in a certain position on the teeth?

Where ever it was when you took it apart is how it goes back on, if there's no hole you drill one and put a bolt through the unit so it don't spring apart when you take the old motor off, that's if you removed the whole unit out of the door.

Unfortuntly most of the teeth were stripped off the original regulator....so as for its original position that was lost....I might try find a good used oem one if I can and try that...

The window motor will spin infinitely with out resistance. Not sure what’s going on with stripping teeth.

Yea the regulator has to come out in a certain direction, or it aint coming out at all. Also regulator has to be in a certain postion or it will fight you......once you do it a few times its extremely simple.

The part that baffled me was to get it off the tracks, I didn't see the slot in the center for the top roller to drop out, once I saw that it pretty much fell out, lol..
