That is what my tranny sounded like just before it stopped working. No park, drive gears, or reverse.

Does this mean...time to buy a new one, or could I get away with a rebuild?

Looking for any solid guidance. Thanks!

What year and model of truck and transmission, what kind of driving do you do and what are the vehicle demands, and are you saying that the transmission has already been deemed a catastrophic failure?

By your description it sounds like it blew apart internally.

Something is definitely broke inside, time to pull it apart I wouldn't even start it up again it'll only make it worse.

Probably exploded the drum if there is no park that's just a spring loaded pawl that latches into teeth on the drum.

Thanks for the tip. Any idea where I should get parts?

It's an 83 Suburban K20. Street driving only. It is a 400. No one has looked at the transmission yet. The truck will not engage any gear including park.

More then likely th case is damaged inside. I have a 2 wheel drive th400 if you wanna take a drive east. You'd have to have the output shaft swapped over. It's a HD with the deep pan out of an R30. But at any rate replacing your current one will probably be the most cost effective route. Any thought @74 Shortbed ?

Did the shift linkage perhaps fall off? What does the fluid on the stick look like?
