You might check the specs for that transmission.
I am thinking that it is recommended for engine oil in the transmission, unless it is the newer over drive manual transmission, then it calls for a special lube with synchromesh additives in it.
Others with more experience and knowledge might chime in.

The GM recommendation in my 1975 repair manual is to use SAE 80 or SAE 90 weight GL-5 gear oil in the NP-205, so 80-90W gear oil will work fine.
FYI - The NP-203 full time case recommendation is 10W-30 or 10W-40 engine oil, so it it is not the same.
