I hope I can link to another forum. It explains what the low vacuum switch is and does.

It's actually the thing in the drivers firewall and has three wires. Well, as discussed, the 85 does. Who knows if the 84 is different.

I was mistaken, the switch on the drivers side of the firewall is the one for your T.C. lockout and if i remember right you want to hook it up to manifold vacuum. The way it was explained to me was when your just cruising along the throttle blades are closed and the engine creates more vacuum. When you put your foot into it, the throttle blades open up, decreasing the amount of manifold vacuum. When that switch on the firewall senses less than a certain amount of vacuum, it opens up and takes the T.C. out of lock up.
