Depends on the current trans (and/or t-case) and the desired trans (and/or t-case). But a manual to auto swap is much easier than the other way around.

It would be a sm465 and np203 to a 400 turbo and a np203.

You have an SM465 with a 203? That's a very rare combo. Driveshaft lengths might be the same, not really sure on that one. Besides that, you really only need to wire in a kickdown switch for the th400 and run cooler lines to a trans cooler. IMHO, the cooler doesn't need to be plumbed into the radiator, running a big dedicated cooler will work just fine.
If you want to keep things simple, you can leave the stock column and pedals in place and run an aftermarket floor shifter. Most will have a starter safety switch and a reverse light switch.
