I almost had my hands on a cherry ass 86 Benz. It was my brothers. Appeared to be all OEM with brand new quality well taken care of black paint. NIce interior. It was a diesel and blew a head gasket. Cost way to much for him to fix and he was told it would likely need a complete new engine to be reliable. I wanted it to convert it to SBC 350/700r4. He told me he'd let me know what he decided. Didn't hear from him for 2 weeks. I called him he said, Man, the city was out here today to put a ticket on it and I told them no sense in that, if it's a problem I'll call Pull A Part right now and it'll be gone today. The city guy sit there while he called PAP and confirmed same day pick up and he got $200 for it. I was so fuggin pist.

BTW, this was is in like 2002, when I had plenty of cash.

Mine was an 87 300e straight 6 auto. If it were stick I'd still have it. There wasn't to many manual cars brought in. Solid cars for sure.

You're where I'm at with what others do with theirs. And whether I like it or not, hats off to them for actually doing something with it instead of letting it sit and rot away. We all have our favorite breeds, bash other breeds usually in good fun but still we do it. I have to be honest, I don't like Dodge, can live with a Ford but prefer GM, but you take a 50's and 60's vehicle and fix it whether it be resto mod or OEM restoration, I'll love'em all even the Dodges.
Amen.
I go to a car show here (been happening every Saturday night for over 20 years) that old guys with hot rods rule during the day. About 5 or 6 old guys start going home. Younger crowd starts showing up with their wicked fast (some) or obnoxious exhaust, some turbos, etc. Anyhow, they are parked in a different area

I've owned all kinda stuff from old Alfa to Caddy and everything in between. German cars (modernish cars) are my favorites. I always seem to come back to Chevy for fun stuff. For a daily commuter car I'd take my Benz back. But then again I wanted to LS swap it.lol I pick but it's all in good fun to a point I have my views and generally tend to keep them off of here. Sometimes they slip out tho. To the point of if something looks rediculous I'm not gonna say it looks good. I just won't comment.
Your last statement said it all. Just don't comment. "UNLESS" they ask "what do you think", then it's fair game. But I also try to think to myself "is it nice to say this?, is it kind?, True? necessary?, if any of these is no, I just move on and keep my dam opinion to myself. Or at least I try to. Still "a work in progress".

IMO, it makes no sense to jack a truck up on 38's or bigger either. :boxed:

Soooooo, your saying you wouldnt ride in this?
Ya know GM trucks were made for the original purpose to be BIG and long lasting hauling **** and of course have power.

I think it's badass too, and if I justify the use I'd damn sure do it. All depends on the purpose of the ride. On mine, I'm going with a 4in lift and probably 34 in tires, (315 75r16) I'm glad it's 34 inch, cuz most say a 35 tire requires more than 4 inch of lift and I really didn't want to add 1 in body lift, so I'm hoping the 34's will be OK and they should only 34 at highway speeds since they're radial. I want a little lift and some tire, but I also want to keep center of gravity lower for trail driving and ducking tree branches. If I crossing creeks and rivers, then yep, I'd want more lift and bigger tires. Also with more lift I'd need to consider crossover steering and I don't have that kind of budget. Point is, purpose is big when making decisions on lift and tires.

... Camaro with air shocks, keystones & N50s, glasspack stingers on the headers and the "CAMARO" sticker across the windshield ...

This all still works for me

I am only into to lifted square's , (unless 4x2) , all of our families street trucks are 6 inch lifts with 35's minimum . Stocker's are for sure cool but I perfer the lifted square's

Different strokes ....for different folks... even though I can't make sense of the spoked out, gold speckled monte carlos or regals with even the axles engraved.....I can and always will appreciate all of the time, money and talent that went into the work. Regardless of what crowd likes or dislikes that kinda thing...I can still appreciate the talent.

The way I see it...it's my truck, my "blank canvas" and it was built for..........me. The same goes for the way I think about anyone elses choice of tires, motor, body mods, etc. It's about enjoying what you have and not what someone else thinks about it.

Hell...if everyone was concerned about what other people thought all of the time.....explain

1) Mullets
2) Male perms
3) Handlebar mustaches
4) Beer cans as yard art
5) The people of Wal-Mart

Good stuff.....I wasn't busting on anyone in particular, or their truck. I understand that to each their own, and a guy or gal can do what they please with their own truck. I just don't understand the thinking (or lack of it) when rendering a perfectly good old GM 4x4 impotent. I meant no offense. Just putting it out there to try find out what the line of thought is. Seems to me a shame, but like some of you have pointed out, it's not my truck.
