I've had this for awhile now, It's been parked about as long as I've had it. I traded a 2003 Ford Ranger for it. It's a 1983 Ford F100 XLT Short Bed with factory 302 and Auto Overdrive. Kid I got it from replaced the carb with the incorrect one for the AOD transmission and the trans effectively shelled itself due to the TV being unable to get proper pressure.

I've slowly been fixing it up, so far it's gotten a factory Ford 289 4bbl intake, carb spacer, new Edelbrock 1403 500cfm carb I bought for $150, new stainless shorty headers, someone had changed the engine in its life at least once, It's a roller block 302 so I swapped in a HO roller cam and lifters and installed a new timing set with a 4° cam advance. Had to pull the passenger side head as the block has been decked and heads milled to compensate. New distributor as well.

I had to install a new steering gear box as that was it's main issue which wound up ballooning into multiple others. I wound up pulling what appeared to be a rebuilt C6 trans at the local pull a part, idk how long ago it was rebuilt, but it was clean inside and out! It's been sitting wrapped in a tarp for awhile now.

It's still sitting currently, as soon as I get a battery charger and misc hoses and belts I'm gonna at least fire it up.

What's so special about this truck? Last year the F100 was made, the color is a one year only color, It's a factory V8 SB truck..

Those were decent looking trucks until they switched to the big plastic headlights. So what was the big difference between a 100 and a 150?

Those were decent looking trucks until they switched to the big plastic headlights. So what was the big difference between a 100 and a 150?

The F1 is what started it, it then became the F100 in like 53, the F100 was essentially the 1/2 ton model, then when more stringent regulations came about in the 70's, Ford added some weight to the F100 (essentially made it a heavy half) and called it the F150 which debuted in 1975. It came about to get passed the regulations and wasn't long before they changed them again.. Last year of the F100 was 1983, Ford basically saw no need for two half ton full size trucks and stopped production, also cause the Ranger had just hit the market too.

To sum it up, weight lol. Thought I'd type all that for the novice's picking this thread up off of Google or perusing the forum and wanting to know. Also after the F150 came out, it could be ordered from Ford with a factory 385 family 460ci engine. Had a 1979 that had one factory. After the new body style came about in 1980 that was stopped.

Lol, nope. Way this **** goes, It'd still be a Flintstone mobile, hell I haven't even fired off the engine in it now since doing all the **** I've done to it lol

Lol, nope. Way this **** goes, It'd still be a Flintstone mobile, hell I haven't even fired off the engine in it now since doing all the **** I've done to it lol
Well that's OK. Usually those blue motors with the distributor in front don't start anyway. You'd just be setting yourself up for disappointment if you tried to start it. I'd be more concerned if that hand massager and warmer built into the tailgate is still working OK and not wore out yet. :laughing1: I think we're going to have to shrink your photo limit before you crash this forum with all them 4 letter F word pics.

You know we have to at least give you some ****. I miss my 93 E350 Retired Ryder Box Van. That was a real good truck. It's still running today. I see it every now and then. The guy who bought it is a Little Debbie snack distributor so it gets driven almost daily.

BTW, you got the right engine in it. 289/302 is one of my favorite Ferd engines. I like to compare it to Chevy 283. They're not a ton of power, but they're peppy reliable engines.

No tailgate lol :p

You should build a roller cam 302 engine with a stock HO Mustang cam, and do the 4 degree advance my buddy and I do to them, really awakens the 302 and makes it more of a truck engine!

I got a bit more done on this yesterday. Replaced the broken PS Pump reservoir using a Dorman kit that was about half the price of a rebuilt pump. So that's just about the last thing besides belts and piddly **** I need to do to it, once I get the pump back on the engine I'll start re-installing the radiator and new hoses and such.

Nope, it'll go in gear but probably not too far, gotta remember the AOD is like the 700R4 in that it uses a TV Cable, or in Ford's case with the carb engines, a TV Rod, to control shifting, and last time the trans neutraled out on me 4 times in 2 blocks. I gotta swap my C6 in it before I can actually go for a ride, til then I'll just make vroom vroom noises and keep my hands warm constantly fixing it ;)

Yup, back to the hand warmer lol

I got the PS Pump bolted back on today, lines attached, new fuel hose and clamps. I still have a little more to do before I can try and crank it. I need to pick up new belts, coolant, and restab my distributor.
