    vent windows

If that's all it takes, maybe I tweaked them getting it in. i did have to pry it over pretty good to get it in the door correctly. These are precision seals as well. so pull it out and bend it around until it seals?

No, but I'm not on here very often.

    vent windows

the type is correct, they were originally 2 piece and i used replacement precision 2 piece. on the latch washer, i'm not sure. There were extra pieces in the bag with no instructions and I didn't have one to reference. I'll check the washers.

    vent windows

I don't know if I screwed something up or if the donor vent frame was bent. I pulled the vent window from a wrecked 84. Seemed OK after powdercoat and reassembly, but now in the truck I have an 1/8" gap. it isn't closed all the way in the picture though, because the latch doesn't work. If I push...

Best all-around solvent for engine work?

bringing this one back to life... I grabbed a bucket of 'solvent' at a local Southern store (atwoods, similar to tractor supply). This stuff isn't much better than diesel. The solvent I used 20 years ago would almost strip paint. right now I have Simple Green in the tank, but you have to be...

    erratic fuel gauge

yea, that's what I was thinking. just trying to avoid buying a sending unit, although i guess i'll need one sooner or later.

    erratic fuel gauge

A while ago I got some advice that my fuel gauge showing 1/4 tank when full was usually a bad gauge resistor on the back of the fuel gauge. I pulled the cluster out, intending to wire in an external 90ohm power resistor to resolve the issue. I found the nuts that hold the resistor on were loose...

    radiator mounting questions

Clean truck! Yep, that's that upper plate I was mentioning on the big block trucks. Nice to see it installed, definitely helps. The shroud is a lot different. It does look like the diesel brackets would be what I want. This is going to be a pain. ebay turns up nothing.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

    Some vent window lessons learned

I just got my frames back from powder and sitting here looking at how they're going to go back together. Staring at what appears to be 1/8" on each side to shoehorn in. You're 100% right on videos skipping the hard part. This is not the quick sunday job it appeared to be.

    radiator mounting questions

I picked up a lightly used brass 4 row radiator the other day for my 86, thinking I'd maybe have to trim a little off the front of the fan shroud and figure out some new insulator rubbers. The existing radiator is aluminum/plastic 2 row, and the insulators look like they would support a 3 row...
