Thank you kickdeez. I am going to stick with my aluminum bellhousing and four speed as well just to keep it factory. I don't drive it daily to justify putting in an overdrive either. It works good the way it is.
I dont want to sound like a dick, but I speak my mind. I was young once too, and I have learned a lot the hard way so I want to pass on some wisdom that you can either take it or leave it. In my opinion, spend your money wisely in all the right places. A loud stereo and a snotty exhaust wont get...
Don't be sorry or afraid to ask for knowledge and opinions from others. I'm happy to see the new generation taking an interest in keeping these old trucks alive.
Honestly, I don't have an opinion on header selection as I prefer to run ported cast iron manifolds because I like the OEM appearance...
I managed to find another pedal return spring. I had a difficult time fighting with installing it on the pedal assembly. I wised up and used a heavy washer on one end so I could get a good pull on it. I bolted the pedal assembly to my work bench and used the porta-power hydraulic puller to...
I wouldn't bother with a dual friction clutch. Unless you have 800+ ft/lbs of torque and pulling heavy loads, a monster clutch like that belongs behind a Cummins. Besides, it will give you such a stiff clutch pedal and a sore leg. It would definitely not give you any advantage with fast shifts...
I agree with bucket and CSFJ. There is nothing wrong with a good stock flywheel. I would take solid dependability over faster shifts any day. The 465 is meant to work and to take abuse. If faster shifting is what you are set on, then perhaps consider looking at a ZF swap. Just my opinion
I have an aluminum bellhousing from a Corvette, however the center would have to be milled out to accept the larger input shaft bearing retainer of the SM465. I found it by pure luck at a swap meet for $80. I agree, I would feel more comfortable with a nodular cast iron bellhousing, but I'm not...
I've only ever seen 2 cast iron bellhousings. One is in my 1969 GMC Suburban, and the other one was on Ebay. I can't say for sure when GM switched to aluminum. I will do some more investigation.
bluex - Yes, that big spring under the dash is the one. I attempted to install a new spring in...
This is for my 1979 3/4 ton. Nothing fancy, just a really good run around truck. I have had it for 20 years now and I have never had a problem with it. I pulled out the transfer case and 4 speed to rebuild them because 3rd gear syncro was toast. Since I'm at the bellhousing, I might as well do...
Ah ha! Excellent. Now I just have to find a set of pedals and a bell housing. The clutch pedal return spring under the dash broke and I have not been able to find another one.
Would an aftermarket sheet metal bellhousing be the way to go if I had the choice? I have a mild 400 but not...
I'm looking for some information on which year GM introduced the hydraulic clutch to replace the old mechanical style in C/K Trucks? I want to find a set of pedals, slave cylinder, clutch cylinder and bellhousing to upgrade my mechanical setup.
Thank you
He was doing a lot of back peddling and playing dumb. I called him on a few of his fouls such as him claiming he got it from the original owner, and showing him the picture he sent me. I told him that I will make a cash offer so I pulled out $3000 cash, counted in front of him, put it back in my...
Well I pulled my car trailer 250 miles to only find out that I would be very disappointed. This Blazer was anything but in original condition. The owner had swapped out the 400 for an old 350. Not a big deal, but he took a picture of the 400 casting number and sent it to me in hopes of trying to...
Going against my better judgment and car buying policies, I finally decided to buy this truck... without seeing it. I managed to use some good bargaining points that I have learned about the truck from this site and all your posts. Now I just need to tell the wife
Which 400 block is more...
To my surprise, it appears that this particular Blazer has the factory 400/TH400 with the Z82 package. It certainly paid off doing a bit of investigation beforehand. Mid 1977 appears to be the last run of the TH400 behind a small block in a 1500 series truck with the exception of having the...
