    Wheelwell trim

I thought about putting a little gob of sealant on the screw threads before installing and considered removing them every year or two to clean it up. Thanks for your reply.

    Wheelwell trim

I saw a c-10 that's the same body style as my '86 short box and it had what looked to be factory wheel well trim with no other trim on the side. I really liked the look and I see LMC has the trim for about $50.00 My concern is that I don't want any rust to start. My truck is essentially rust...

Cluster Refurb - What are options

I looked and couldn't find them on GM Sport's web page. What a shame at they worked well. They had a guy working in his home shop building them. I spoke with him once regarding the installation. So maybe something happened and he can't build them anymore. Hope mine holds up.

Cluster Refurb - What are options

My '86 had the large fuel gauge on the right. I bought a tach/fuel gauge from GM Sports ( I think that's the name). It just plugs into the clips previously used for the fuel gauge. You do have to run a wire to the tach but that's it. I think that tach costs around $220.00. Works very well.

    TH400 shifting issue

I was very impressed with their service. Called me three times to keep me apprised. When they test drove the truck, the mechanic noted a "clunk" when taking off from a stop. I don't think I ever heard it because my radio is always blasting. In any case, he put it on the lift and went over the...

    TH400 shifting issue

Took the truck to AAMCO and they found that the linkage was practically "going to fall out" They adjusted and tightened it all up and it shifts wonderfully now. Thanks to all who replied.

    TH400 shifting issue

Matt, thanks for the detailed response. If the issue is as you described, would that possibly account for the fact that I put it in "D" and it wouldn't go into 3rd? Also, would that account for when I put it in "R" and I have to move the gearshift slightly to get it to engage?

    TH400 shifting issue

Good idea....I haven't checked the fluid in a while. I get lazy because every time I check it, it's fine. But even if the level is fine, that wouldn't explain why I have to move the indicator a bit to the left when I'm looking for "R". I very much appreciate your comments.

    TH400 shifting issue

I don't believe it's the indicator. Yesterday, when I put it in "D", I felt a positive "clunk" Just wouldn't go into 3rd. Even if the indicator was broken, I'd still be able to feel when it went into gear. Not much of a mechanic so I'm sure I'll put it into a shop.

    TH400 shifting issue

Appreciate the reply.......and what are doing up so early? Yes, the indicator reads P-R-N-D-2-1. I replaced the indicator itself when I bought the truck because while the transmission was replaced, the indicator wasn't. It had the 700R indicator and it just bugged me.

    TH400 shifting issue

Hello Folks! I have a transplanted TH400 put in by a PO. I've had the truck for 3-4 years and it's always shifted beautifully. About two weeks ago, I started experiencing a problem. I would select "R" and nothing would happen. I'd move the selector to the left just a little bit and it would...

    Another fuel gauge issue

Thanks for the pictures, Jerry. They will help me locate the wiring. I went out and laid in the driveway and checked it out. My truck is lowered so I couldn't get under it very far, just my fat head. I did see a bundle of wires going down both inside frame rails. Maybe I can jack it up and get...

    Another fuel gauge issue

Hey, Jerry! Thanks for responding. Assuming I can find the pink wire, what will I be checking for? Loose connection? Bare wire? On the delayed wipers, an interesting thing happened. Bear in mind, my delays have never worked at all........I was going through the car wash the other day and...

    Another fuel gauge issue

My understanding of automotive electrical systems is right there with my understanding of voodooism so be patient. Would the fact that the gauge is finding its way back to the proper position be consistent with your suggestion? Does the sensing wire affect both tanks? I guess I thought of it...
