value of a 350 needing rebuilt
Well I've collected quite a bit of scrap around the house the 3 months my truck wasn't running I'd say with out the engine I'd still have 100-200 dollars of scrap so I'll be going to the scrap yard anyway but if I can get 100 bucks by selling it it would beat the 40 bucks I'd get from scrap- mrdeades1987

Engine break in
I have been told to get the break in additive from my mechanic. He is putting a new 350 in my truck next week he says they sell it at autozone/advance/o'Reillys, I'm sure Napa does too. Idk I haven't been buy to get it yet- mrdeades1987

what carb to use?
The problem I have with quadrajet is they are all remanufactured and the quality of them depends on the person who rebuilt it meaning I might get a great one the first time or it may take 10 of them to get a good one- mrdeades1987

Hey I'm going to be putting in a new gm 350/260hp in my 85 k10 Outdoorsman and I've been told with that engine I have to get a 600cfm carb for the max hp/torque. I'm leaning more towards the 350/260 cause I live in the mountains and use the truck on the farm so torque is of more importance as far as other engine components all of mine are still good and my 350 had over 300hp with a holley stree avenger carb. I like the jeg but couldn't find the price for the engine with the extra components like it states it's 30 less hp then the gm performance u can get from a dealership tho- mrdeades1987

My wife uncle is an amazing mechanic since the corvettes he built in the early 90s won nationals and his advice was to get a new engine and drop it in... him doing to swap for $250 and keeping to original if I every decided to sell it and getting it rebuilt later... he saI'd it poll cost $2000...- mrdeades1987

Back to the 350 engine part I was lookin at going to chevy dealership and I can get a brand new 350 with 100,000 mile warranty for 2200 dollars and it their performance 350 with 290 hp.... that's wat I was leaning towards I just don't know all the options I could do- mrdeades1987

Yea dodge does the outdoorsman now but in 85 chevy built I think 200 of them idk how to post a pic or I'd show u mine it's pretty much all original except normal upkeep parts for a gas engine with 300,000 miles lol- mrdeades1987

All I know about the k10 Outdoorsman is in 1985 Chevy made a limited numbe of them and some came with a rifle and the trucks themselves have a lift and on the side the say custom deluxe 10 and on the bed they say Outdoorsman. They alsko made the s10, s10 blazer, and k5 blazer in the same trim...- mrdeades1987

Hey I have aN 85 Chevy k10 Outdoorsman. Back in November it got cold and froze the engine blocks and cracked the head it has a 350 in it with over 300,000 miles so I'm just going to buy a new engine instead of rebuilding. Need ideas of what to put in it rather just get a crate 350 or something...- mrdeades1987
