1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?
I would not use the bumper to tow anything over about 3-4k lbs, but I am assuming you are using a frame receiver and using the term Bumper tow. Then you should be ok for that aspect for 10k lbs. You also mentioned a 12 bolt axle. Should be 14, I don't believe there were 12 bolt dually axles...- Markmx6

Contrary to the older belief, you do not need back pressure for an engine to run. You may need to make adjustments to timing and the carburetor to make it run right, but running straight manifolds or headers won't hurt it. Now if you have an engine that is tuned properly with an exhaust on it...- Markmx6

Will it do the same thing if you do not have power to the transmission? I thought the 4l80 was second gear with the solenoids all off, and no power would cause that too. Definitely check power to the distributor first, but keep in mind the valve cover is usually a poor place to get ground, the exhaust manifold or cylinder head is a better location. The pop is what is making me think... Was it like an ignition pop? or was it possibly a mechanical pop? If it was...- Markmx6

Factory Stand Alone 0411 PCM for 4L80e
I just did it to a 69 gmc with a 350 and a Carter afb carb. The harder part is getting a tach signal to the ECM. I was able to use the tach output on the HEI and a resistor, (I don't recall which value, I tried several) and once I got a clean signal then I had to adjust the tach settings in...- Markmx6

That info was accurate as of last year. I haven't worked for him for over 20 years, but he still helps get me parts at wholesale once in a while. Here in AZ used cats aren't worth ****. Recyclers won't pay you much for them, the emissions repair shop I used to work for sells them for $20 each to a recycler... You can buy a new cat off of Rockauto for $60. The only ones that are expensive are the ones that are unusual, Ford F-150's etc...- Markmx6

HP Tuners is kinda stupid. you need two credits to license the PCM and that includes the tune that is currently programmed. Then it costs 2 credits to license a new tune even if it is one you download from somewhere else so you can upload it to the PCM... For instance if you get a random 0411...- Markmx6

Here is the pricing as I see it for a Vortec to CNP Reluctor wheel $175 from Efi Connection Crank sensor $10 from Amazon PCM pins $10 from either Efi Connection or Mouser Coils and connectors $Varies depending on the junkyard, mine cost $60 PCM You area already getting one...- Markmx6

I was pretty sure that the reason EFI Connection had difficulty having the reluctor wheels manufactured was that they are in fact dual sided like the L21, it just doesn't look like it in the pictures.
