    91 Suburban headlight issue

I've had similar symptoms from bad dimmer switches.

Treadle powered domestic sewing machines are still common. Industrial machines that can sew through 1 inch of leather under human power are rare. Wish I still had all the pedal-power parts, but they've fallen by the wayside during a number of moves. My hillbilly grandmother often said that three...

And here's a REAL working shot: I haul three round bales often on the nine foot bed. Plenty of truck for the job, but I get a lot of wisecracks when I stop along the way.

Since I know you guys like old stuff, I can't imagine that the photos in the last post are offensively off topic, but in case they are, here are a few of the R30 at work:

Here's a different shot of my truck crane in use. Also shows two different GM trucks: a 1989 GMC 3500 van which we bought new and recently retired, and a 1976 Olson body step van on a 30 series Chevy chassis. We have a small leather shop, and we operated it out of the step van for a while. Sold...

Character description. We homestead, keep a few animals, garden, milk a Jersey cow. The watermelon was the first one harvested that year. 2015, I think. It's an heirloom variety called Georgia Rattlesnake. Not nearly a prize winner, but it—and the variety in general—was delicious. Thanks for...

Aluminum Wheels for 8 Lug Hubs

I greatly appreciate all the input. This is and will be a working truck, and I will consider every offered perspective. Even though I like the all wooden flat, I may replace it with a steel frame flat bed. It would still have a treated wood floor. I sometimes haul livestock, and I think wood...

    Long Time Square Body Lover

You’d be amazed at how often I need that hoist. Didn’t cost much, but it is remarkably useful. A 100 lb propane bottle weighs 170 lb full. I used to throw them around without a problem. Not so much anymore. Some of my children made fun of the lift, but they don’t hesitate to call me when they...

So many of the people I know have taken on massive debt to buy late model trucks. Our approach is different. This truck already does (most of) what a new one does (no AC), and it will improve over time. Even better, it appreciates every year. Value of new ones drops like a stone.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Thanks for the thread. Helpful thinking. We operate a small leather shop, and I intend to cover mine with upholstery leather.

Aluminum Wheels for 8 Lug Hubs

I'd like to put aluminum wheels on my 87 R30 single wheel. Been thinking I'd use something like what's come on Silverados for some time now, but I'd also like to know what is available. Any input? What do you like and why? And to be clear, my first choice is 16". Would probably consider other...

    Write up: Gas Tank Relocation

I've never liked the fuel tanks on SBs. This thread has me wondering if the 30 gallon rear tank from my 89 van might fit the 87 R30. I'll at least do some measuring.

    Building Gauge Cluster

Enjoying this thread. I've thought a good bit about how I want to handle gauges, and these posts are helpful.
