What did you decide. I ha e an 85 Shorty that I plan on doing the same thing to. I was debating the same thing on rim size. At this point I am leaning toward 18’s just for comfort reasons. More sidewall will equal a smoother ride.

Best suggestion for adding weight to the rear of my truck without put steel plate in the bed. It has a tendency to lose traction very easily. I was thinking of welding some steel plate to the frame.
It sometimes feels like a reverse pull whether accelerating or cruising at speed. Not sure what might be the issue. Fuel? Brakes? Just not sure. Any suggestions?

I have found a newly rebuilt LS2 to put into my 85. This is the motor. Everything on it stays, including accessories. It also comes with a crate of extra parts, but haven't had time to go look just yet. He still has the original injection system which is what I would put back on it for...
Newby to this forum, but not to Chevy. Just bought one of my dream trucks. A 1985 Chevy Silverado. Plan to keep it looking stock outside and in, but under the hood will change along with other driving components. This is now my daily driver.
