    If it has that much play and you are able to make it move forward and back there is A failed brg or thrust washer .

    Put st least 7 alto red clutches in 3rd use 4L60 e apply plate preferred out of hD 4l65 A wide 2-4 band can be used but it must be with new drum Teflon bsg in frt pump ,Transgo shift kit hD pump slide spring , beast sun shell ,92 model should have all the good upgrades as sprags are concerned...

    Built like mabe couple hundred these 350,s theY will break the pawl that engages the notches on the output shaft ring gear but sometimes the actuator rod that wedges it will bend or disconnect pull pan you can see if thst,s it

    1999 Suburban 10 bolt pinion bearings replace.

    It takes experience to properly set up rear ends If you replace the pinion brgs 4 example reuse original shim and set preload to about 30 inch lbs drag crushing the sleeve will take a lot of effort using a cheater pipe is best way , remember torque it slow stop when it has slight resistance...
