Update............
I installed the new Mishimoto Radiator and she's running cool. The temps have been highs around 80 so I haven't pushed her but I let her idle for 15 minutes and its running cooler. My guess is 185 but I'll pull the infared out when it hits 90 again. The radiator is $319...
Thanks guys, I bought a long tube model chrome one off amazon for $15 and it looks exactly like the oring style. I took the dipstick and stuck it in my existing tube and it reads right in the middle lol. Done
thanks guys. This truck is an adventure lol... I'm going to buy a tube and dipstick off of amazon and install it in a couple of days... I have a gasket kit that has 7+ gaskets in it so I should have the gasket I need in case the new tube doesn't come with one.
The pan is back on so I can't...
I have a bit of a frankentruck... originally an 87 v10 with a 305. Now has a carbed 305 out of an 84, th350 and a np205. I think the axles are original...
I've been having a couple issues lately.... what seems to be happening is that if I fill up the fluid to where it should be hot it seems...
I had a similar issue where the brake lights went inop and I had a tech take a look at it when he was replacing the rear brakes/drums etc. He said it was the harness he was right. It was a pita but there is a good right up by 89suburban if i remember correctly. Makes it fairly straightforward...
With the guage reading 180-190 in temperate weather the infared thermometer was reading right at 180 by the tstat. I didn't wait till 90 degree weather to double check the accuracy in hot weather but it is a safe assumption on a 30 year old stock radiator. I'll be moving to NC where the...
I just ordered the moshimoto from Jegs for $268.75. It won't be here for 2 weeks but the truck drives fine, just a little warm when the temp is in the 90's. I'll test out the new radiator in hot weather and report back how she does. Looks like I might not be in NC till September so I'll keep...

Thanks for the info guys. I picked up a cheapo infrared thermometer and checked different parts of the radiator and block. Temp has been cool around 74 and the truck...
I just ordered an infared thermometer off amazon for $10. I think its a good idea of I'm fixing a non problem lol and getting ahead of myself. The stock radiator is in good shape and the temp guage doesn't move much once at temp. I'll double check the tstat I used but if I remember correctly...
I've been driving my K10 a lot lately and fixing little and big problems as they arise. My truck doesn't overheat per say but the factory guage reads 200 all the time. I think thats what it always did and only goes up to 210 degrees in extreme heat. My buddy looked it a couple years ago with...
thanks for the advice guys. The truck still had a fair amount of oil in it when I drained the pan. The pan was really rusty but since she leaks it was always covered in oil lol. I got lucky and never lost oil pressure or oil volume and it was a pin hole leak at the back of the pan which...
Hey guys, I'm at a cross roads.... I haven't been able to do much with my truck the last couple of years because of work etc and having no free time... I actually have a couple weeks before I move and am technically unemployed so I could devote a week or so to getting the truck fixed up etc...
Guys, thanks for the tips. I'm moving south in a couple weeks so I'm going to take the advice of its not broke; don't fix it..... I want to upgrade the fuel hose but don't want to spend $100 bucks if I have to sell in a couple months :( Not likely as my truck is one of a kind with the Rugby...
Quick question hopefully;
I have an 87 V10 but the engine is from an 84 and she is carbed. The fuel sending unit is pretty rusty and I'm thinking of replacing it while I replace the fuel line. Should I use a fuel sending unit from an 86 or 87?
It was originally dual 16 gallon tanks but...
