    Not saying that at all, use what you want. ;) It's all preference at the end there's not a right or wrong silicone to use honestly, it can't hurt much unless you get all squeeze happy in the valley.:33:

    My only relevant experience with silicone is Permatex. Overall, there's good and bed techs wherever you go, doesn't matter the shop name or the "rating" of the shop, a lot of the techs at my GM dealer sucked TBH and I feel that way about most stealerships.     As far as the end seals, I've been a full time technician for several years including a GM dealer, I've sealed way too many sbc intake manifolds. If you use black rtv you're gonna leak, I gaurantee it. Get grey RTV, apply a nice thick pinky sized bead across the ends, it'll still leak it's...

    Honestly I wouldn't worry about it too much if It's popping, backfiring that's different though. Your carb may be set a little bit off, your timing may be slightly advanced, or possibly(probably) an exhaust/manifold leak. I'd check timing and inspect for exhaust leaks, especially at the exhaust...

    Idk where at in Cali you're located but I'll be pulling my dually Dana 70 here soon to swap in a narrower cab and chassis dually axle if you're interested. It's in really good shape has fresh oil and bearings in it. Nice axle very HD tubes are thick as ****.

    Make sure you inspect it thoroughly, the passenger side could be tight, or the driver's side could be stretched. Just make sure you find the right bent part before you order stuff of course. -Good luck!

    Did you inspect the spring mounts? Are they straight? Measure the spread between each of the spring mounts see if they're the same? Looks like my friends 450 lb sister is sitting in the driver's seat....o_O

    Is it backfiring through the exhaust or carb? Sounds like a distributor advance issue but hard to say without seeing it in person myself.
