    Hi all

Looks like you're doing a great job! Amazing how close big block headers fit to the starter and between the frame rails on these old trucks isn't it? Looking at your photos really takes me back to my frame-up build along a similar path on my K20. Good luck completing your project!

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Hi Mike, my all-stainless West Coast mirrors were manufactured by a company named Velvac. If I recall 30+ years ago they were the company that GM had making their factory OE truck mirrors & kits. Mine are/was a complete kit at the time. Definitely high quality stuff, probably still are...

    How about a NEW squarebody?

NOT that I'm AT ALL a Dodge/RAM/Mopar guy, but I happened to recently learn that the 2500 Power Wagon's are a bit more than a sticker kit. Particular truck I came in contact with was a late model Laramie, msrp over $60k - yikes! Guess it's ok if you got deep pockets and you're into this sorta...

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Hey Mike, no power mirrors of course heh-heh. They're a might big but they sure did a nice job seeing next to and behind me when I had a cab-over/end-over slide in camper in the bed. They work good when pulling/backing car and equipment trailers too. Anyway for around home I just leave the...

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Hey Jesse, Yes I like the look of the wide camper spec wheels with dog dish hubcaps recessed into the wheel. I gotta make a change and once I figure out best way to attach or weld the spring steel clips I bought online I'm going to paint the wheels GM argent silver. Maybe too common but with...

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Thanks Curt glad you enjoyed the pics. But, Ohhhh, I've got a few things in mind now that my K20 is getting back out in the light of day. Mebbe not everything needed, let's just say never completed... Like fitting my dog dish hubcaps to the inner nub camper special wheels, plan to paint the...

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Hey Jesse, thanks for your admiration and insight. Yes the truck condition held up really well being protected in my pole barn over the years. I used all Dupont Imron Epoxy paint system top & bottom when I did the build and it all still looks great, sans a few nicks & chips but no paint...

    Low miles GMC High Sierra

:waytogo: Yup I think that sounds better. Damn nice truck! But if there's a bit of racing in the family blood like you mentioned in your intro, maybe a nice period correct 454 when you jerk the small block might be in order? Nothing radical but a mild build pump gas big block with a...

    Low miles GMC High Sierra

Pardon me for saying but that truck looks like a true survivor and just too nice to modify. If it were mine I'd probably put a tasteful set of fully trimmed GM rally wheels on it and just drive and enjoy it as it is. Be a nice legacy tribute to your Granddad too. Just sayin' IMHO. Take care.

Renwed Interest In My "Square Body"

Hi I'm Joe. Been spinning wrenches since I was a kid. My how things have changed... When I mostly completed my 77 K20 build in 1985 (it never really ends)... There was no Internet as we know it.. Ronald Reagan was President.. My 77 was still fairly "new".. Never heard the...
