So the tranny issue was fixed when I unplugged the harness to the trans and plugged it back in
Works perfectly. Ran a 13.2 at the track (remember when I wrote that I would never go to the track?) Now I took the hvac system out of the truck to fix the vacuum lines that switch the vent doors...
I am working on refurbishing my heater controls, heater box, and etc and I found a metal "box" above the heater box and mounted to the under side of the metal dash. It has an electrical plug connected. What is it? I'll take a pic if no one knows off the top of their head
There is a setting in hptuners under the "speedo" tab that lets you raise the fuel cutoff speed from 98 to 256. I kept getting fuel cutoff just after 1000 foot mark and coasting to the 1/4 mile mark.
14.6 @ 85mph lol
My 1000 foot was 88 mph.
Found the speed limiter after I got home.
Getting a parts list together to rebuild the tranny and I decided to pull the plug that goes to the transmission from the wiring harness (the big round plug)and re installed it. Also I made the coolant fan that’s right inline with the trans cooler run all the time that the truck is running...
second third and 4th are ok. just no overdrive or first. I'll probably end up rebuilding it myself. Well, Youtube and I will do it. full computer from the donor truck.
Trans shop said that o/d slips and that causes it to shut down the “1st/ OD” solenoid. Anyone ever hear of anything like this? I put some Lucas oil trans slip stuff and it was fixed for about a week. Thought i was out of the woods because it would work fine until it warmed up (still does). So...
OK so I picked up a pair of used "slapper bars". Guy on craigslist had the truck (longer) version. I'll report back when the monsoon stops and I can get them on and get out there
OK so no wheel hop on wet roads. The driver side of my truck is about 2inches lower than the passenger side. Might be some spring issues there. leaf springs look and feel tight, no obvious issues. Without spending more than $200 is there a good traction bar solution?? Cal tracs are...
Awesome discussion! Thanks for all the info. I'm gonna check leafs shocks pinion angle and it just rained all night so I'll try to see if if hops wet . The engine is an lq4 6.0 with a cam and headers .
Old: 3.08 open diff
New 3.73 positrac
I installed the diff and gears and then drove easy for a while (break in?) then went out and blew the shine off the tires (no hop just AWESOME) during the 4th "smoke release" it hopped and has done it ever since. My ear and butt are always monitoring for...
I put in a new diff and gears and now I have wheel hop bad. Seems too coincidental to blame it on anything else? I don't know if a loose pinion nut would cause that somehow?
I don’t have a pic looking down but they clear the frame perfectly. There is only one “ear” on the bell housing that needs to be removed. Death wheel and 2 minutes is all you need
Ya I bfh'd that thing for EVER. LOL. It turns out it was one of the gears that was really stuck on there. But I am REALLY LOVING the new diff and gears. So much more fun to drive. Burnouts for distance are a lot more satisfying as well!
