Big Sky
I recently got sold off a "spare" car from our driveway. I used the funds to purchase my '79 K-10 square. It is an old farm truck that spent almost 40 years on the same farm in northern Montana. I got this one for a couple of reasons. First and foremost was for the nostalgia. My dad taught me how to drive stick and get my first license with a (78 or 79?) C-10. It was a pipeline parts runner truck-- nothing special. Rubber floor, vinyl bench seat and an AM/FM radio. It had a 305 V8 with a "three on the tree" transmission. I remember a lot of fun times with that truck. The independence & freedom was exciting! Driving it leads my thoughts back to simpler times. The second reason for this particular truck was the color and body style. I wanted an earth tone truck - something a little different than glossy black - and I wanted a basic one (single cab x long bed) --basic farm truck. I am not after "flashy". I wanted a daily driver type. I plan on USING IT AS A TRUCK, not a parade car. I knew if I got one too shiny, then I would not use it to haul gravel, lawn mowers, potting soil, or any other WORK. Mission accomplished. This is my fourth Chevy "truck", but the first one with a bed I could use. The other ones were all Suburbans: '89, '99, and '05. The '05 was my first ever 4x4. Soooo.... this last one would obviously need to be the K10 not the C10.
