He seemed to have a good eye for what to put away. Your truck definitely has an uncommon combination of options, and I think that's the first red truck with the hood stripes I've seen. Brown and green I've seen a few examples of, but the red is a first.

Oh wow, how cool! Family's business had one new, plain Jane Big 10 work truck with a 350 auto, LB. I learned you didn't pull out an nail the throttle, like I was used to with Corvairs. I can't imagine that one!

It's original paint... its states solid paint, but next line note Carmine Custom xrr1. Carmine is the red, I guess the custom denotes the cream.
Another thing about the truck....it's got the dealer installed ziebart rust protection. What a mess everywhere. Be tough to get it back to factory look under the hood- drivetrain. Probably saved it from rust

The white/beige is not original paint. Solid means all one color, no two-tone. Carmine Custom is the interior trim. If it was an original two-tone truck, the secondary color would be listed on the spid too.

The last line of the spid states 73 cardinal red solid..... I assumed that meant the interior? I appreciate your knowledge and help.
Excuse my ignorance... my knowledge runs more to the 55-59
And the 67-72. ( pic of my 69 )

This brings up an interesting thing i want to point out that i notice, every big ten i see thats two tone such as his nice find the roof matches the second color in the middle... my big ten does not, was that some sort of option? Does anyone know? I have not seen another big ten like mine where the roof is not the same as the center color.

Cardinal Red is the exterior color and 73 would be the code for it.

Although it would not surprise me if your truck left the dealership with the two-tone paint and aluminum wheels. It might have already been on the lot and the dealer made the changes to make the sale happen.

The RPO said split paint not 2 tone or did I miss something?

ZY1 is solid paint (all one color), as shown on the SPID. 73L is the color (Cardinal Red).

It's original paint... its states solid paint, but next line note Carmine Custom xrr1.

XRR1 Carmine is the interior color and trim level.

solid in this case may mean non-metallic.

No. Solid means single color.

At the bottom right of the description plate is an order no
L8Q799....... I'm assuming a custom order, not sure how to track that down,

All vehicles are "ordered" before they are built, either by a dealer for stock or by a dealer for specific customer option content. It would be impossible to determine which this was at this point (although the content certainly indicates somebody had this truck in mind). The order number goes through Chevrolet Central Office and is directed to the assembly plant (based on geographic area to some degree but also directed based on option content) and then becomes the interim tracking number until the PVI (Primary Vehicle Identifier), CSN (carrier sequence number) and General Assembly sequence number are assigned. At that point the GA sequence number is the primary means of identification through the assembly process.

This would be a thread for @Keith Seymore to take a look at. It took me a while to remember is name lol

Not sure if I should be flattered or offended ;)

The last line of the spid states 73 cardinal red solid..... I assumed that meant the interior?

No - 73L is the exterior color. L = "lower", or primary. Two tones use a U = "upper", or secondary.
