Have a 250 inline 6 with a rochester monojet with electric choke. Looking to upgrade to 2 barrel to get more takeoff power. Any good replacements?

I'd do that or just a Rochester 2 barrel.

Yes, replace it with an LSX,
Or one of Honky's or 74's spare BB's !!!

On a serious note, it is a 250, keep it like it is, an get a hot rod.

He wants it to be peppy not Lapue. Lol
Haha, very funny. I guess I overlooked the peppy part. The 2GC is a good carb, but it couldn't compete with either one of the Holley's suggested.

I don't know of any 2-bbl carb that will fit on the stock manifold without a cheesy JC Whitney type adapter. Guys, other than the dreaded "integral" 2-bbl manifold, are there any others available?

I think there are still one or two 4-bbl manifolds available. One of those with a small carb like a Holley 8007 might improve power, but for a substantial increase he'll need low restriction exhaust from manifold back. Or better yet, split manifolds or headers. And of course the engine has to be in good shape -- good compression for example, and a proper advance curve. And don't forget to check for vacuum leaks.
